I have not personally done this myself. I see some advantages to hiring someone, but also some disadvantages. The stranger part is a good and bad thing. It's someone you could do this with as a one time thing if you like, and you won't have to worry about seeing them again really. Not like your going back to work, or hanging out with them somewhere and having any awkwardness.

Then again, you don't really know this person you are hiring. I would definitely keep discussing it with your wife, find out what you both can agree on trying and then pursue it.
