6 real world spy gadgets straight out of the movies

"The Cold War was a terrifying time fraught with tension, murder and the ever-present threat of nuclear war. And in our darkest hour, our world leaders turned to their most esteemed geniuses, their brilliant scientists, their brightest engineers, and asked them one question, one question upon which hung the fate of the world:
"Hey, wouldn't it be cool to have like, a shoe-phone? Like that Get Smart guy? From the show?"
And the answer they received was: "Hell yes." "

I admit that more than one thing in this article made me say "hey, I saw that on NCIS!!!" but I still had a fun time learning about the rest of them. It's crazy what kinds of things humans have come up with!

I love stuff like this, growing up on James Bond and Get Smart and all. I really like seeing how folks make covert guns, seen a 22 small enough to fit under your tongue, crazy and cool at the same time.

What's kind of scary is with today's technology most of the gadgets from Get Smart and James Bond could/have been made.

I am all about those things. Think of what the government has now if they are selling Ipads. Amazing!

If you're ever in DC, you should visit the Spymuseum. It as a great collection of spy items and stories of famous, and not so famous, spies. For example, did you know that Julia Child was a spy?
