8 Gadgets That Lie to You Every Day

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
"Back in the old days, we didn't have all these gadgets to tell us how full something was or how hot the day was, we just looked at the thing or noticed how much we were sweating. Now that we have all the fancy gauges and buttons modern life provides to us, we may have gotten a little bit overdependent on them.

As it turns out, many of these gadgets are scarily inaccurate or even deliberately configured to lie to and appease us."

I actually knew the one about the elevator buttons and the crosswalk buttons, but this list had a few other interesting things on it as well. Anything else that isn't on this list that should be?

Who thinks a crosswalk button hurries up the speed of the lights?!? I've never once thought that.

'Apparently cars less than $20,000 have more accurate speedometers than luxury cars.'

They do? Because mine's broken. How's that for accurate? And the fuel guage, too. Fecker's been lying to us for years!

I suspected about the speedometer. Whenever I pass one of those speed signs, the speed never exactly matches what my speedometer says.

I actually knew about the speedometer and the fuel gauges, my daddy worked on cars his whole life. I learned a few things.

I've always wondered how fuel gauges work, and always forget to look it up (thanks Internets). Some people wonder why filling up with "same amount" seems to last noticeably longer/shorter (too many variables...). Entertaining and informative read. Only eight, and I can't think of any more.
