A BIG "aircraft carrier" sized rock, zipping between the earth and moon gives me a question. If you KNEW we were going to be hit and wiped out, like the DINO's, WHAT would you do with that last week?

Truth is, folks would be stealing TV's, Burning, Looting and doing mayhem...I just bet. Society would break down. NO ONE would go to work...including cops. If we KNEW it was all over, why bother. It would not be pretty. Sure, some would pray, some would cry, some would want to spend time with family....but in general...I really believe it would be UGLY, which is why, I bet, the officials would NOT tell us it was going to happen.

Thought about that...but WHO would fly you? How would you get there? I bet folks would NOT be working...WHY would they? Everyone would want to hunker down with family. Would anyone be scared of getting fired???? No hotels, no airlines, no stores (those would get looted as some would TRY to seek "shelter" deep in subways and caves...bet on it. Just sounds nice to think about, but I fear it would be harder to carry out.

Yeah it obviously works much better if I am the only one who knows it is the end of the world, then I can do what I like and still have a functioning society during that time.

i'd take my man with me if i could, and if i couldn't, go off on my own to the islands of hawaii, to see the volcanoes, and/or to see stonehenge, the pyramids, to explore their depths. i'd go back to my island, ortigia, off the coast of sicily, and swim out to the island again, never afraid. i'd go travel to the ends of the earth, climb the highest mountain i saw, toast with strangers and wallow in their wine.


this was basically the life i lived one year spent traveling italy. maybe this forum question has shown me what i REALLY need to be doing in life!

i dont know about 'everyone' wanting to hunker down with family. for some their family is an anchor.

and as for cops not working, i dont know about that either. have you seen 'the walking dead?' in that series at least, the writer creates a sheriff's deputy character who retains his moral code well into the madness of the world going to shit.

and as far as TVs being stolen.. i'd leave that for hurricanes, floods, and the like. if the world was ending, what dummy would think a TV would have any value in the afterlife?

honestly i dont think what any of us deeply want to do in our hearts to be happy has anything to do with violence. maybe a few of us, alright, but i dont think the world would be a mess of violence, murder and theft.

Actually, the a la Armageddon scenario wouldn't work. A bomb wouldn't stop it, if it was big enough to wipe us out.

I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably just spend more time with my family, talk to my girl on skype.
