Cats are my favorite animal, so definitely them. Over a dog, I'd choose mice and rats because I used to own 6 rats and they were so much fun. I taught them tricks and they all knew their individual names, they were very clean and just a whole lot of fun. I've also had some great mice. Rats are harder to care for than mice, but about as smart as dogs, whereas mice aren't known for their ability to learn tons of tricks.
