A silly ghost question

Contributor: Martiniman Martiniman
You're out of town on business and are staying at an old hotel that is rumored to be haunted. While asleep at night a ghost enters your room, strips you naked and proceeds to have sex with you. You awaken to the feeling of sexual pleasure that continues to increase, and you make no effort to stop the ghost because you are enjoying the sex. When the experience is over, you are in sexual bliss and before falling back to sleep from exhaustion, you see the ghost float away.

My question...

If you are married or are in a relationship, did you just cheat on your partner?

I would say not!

Love you for asking that funny question.

But according to my atheist belief system I would consider this encounter as an experience of sleep paralysis or hypnagogia. So it would be no cheating.

But if I had a more spiritual or spiritistic belief system maybe I would consider it cheating, because there is a person / personality involved.

But what about a scary threesome with two living and one dead? Or vice-versa?

I mean the ghost doesn't have a physical body so it's kind of masturbation..... right?

Sorry, the ability to suspend disbelief is not possible here. Ghosts cannot touch, therefore there is no sex. I would deem it, at best, a hallucination and pop another sleeping pill.

I would call it a dream...dreams aren't cheating.

When I was married, my spouse occasionally dreamed that I was cheating and was then angry with ME all day...

That depends, is necrophilia cheating? Is masturbation cheating? Is rape cheating?

This scenario sounds somewhere in between all three. Even if you did enjoy the experience, you didn't intend for this to happen and got no say in it; that sounds like rape to me. You may argue that necrophilia is cheating, but that still makes it 2 no's and a yes.

The other possibility is that you had a bit of sleep paralysis and were actually raped, but thought it was a ghost. In which case, no rape isn't cheating.

Either way you should get a rape kit and get checked for any new diseases just in case!

Luckily, I'm in an open relationship, so I'm free to have sex with all the ghosts I want!

awesome question

I'm inclined to think it's a dream.

I had that happen with my boyfriend...It was magical. By that i should say "that's what it felt like" I get up much earlier then my boyfriend and one night at like 2 am he comes in and starts kissing over my neck and chest and we had "half asleep sex" and it was the best thing ever. It was like a ghost in the night.

I'm leaning towards no...first off, that darn rude ghost didn't even ask first, and second...well they're dead.
Besides, it's not like your partner could call the ghost up on the phone and have it out with them.
x'D

That said, if that sort of thing did happen, I'd probably feel really guilty for a while for enjoying it even after I told my boyfriend what happened.

I guess that would depend on the individual and how they felt

I, myself, have done this. Dreams can be powerful and feel an awful lot like reality at times. It's hard to disconnect yourself from something you truly felt you had experienced.

As far as the original question goes, I don't believe in such things, BUT for the sake of the question, I don't believe it would be cheating.
