Anyone else around here the parent of an autistic kid?

I figured since I've been poking around here a lot, I'd see if I found anyone I had things in common with! I'm currently pretty busy taking care of an autistic and epileptic son, and I spend a lot of time mucking around online while he's resting or when he gets sick of me spending time with him.

Any other parents of autistic children around? If so, are your children otherwise healthy, and how much care do they require? Do you find yourself pretty much social-life-less dealing with childcare?

I am the mother of a 7 year old son who was diagnosed as high functioning autistic. He was also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Over all though, he is healthy. He is pretty easy to care for, because my 10 year old daughter helps but he gets really clingy to me. When we are out in public or around strangers, he is really shy and has crying spells for no reason. We also have to watch him because he will put himself in dangerous situations without knowing he is doing it.

YES, I have no social life.

Ahaha, I'm not the only one with the lack of a social life then, huh?

It sounds like you have a lot going on, but it's awesome that your older daughter is able to help out. My son is my only child, and he can be a terror to keep up with! He's six and still doing the put-everything-in-the- mouth type thing, so I'm usually pretty frantic trying to make sure that everything in his vicinity is properly child-proofed.
