My friend sold her ipod and she never got the money and ebay/paypal both werent very helpful. Just be careful before doing anything.

Yes, mostly with sellers grossly misrepresenting products. If a seller doesn't ship something you paid for, ebay/paypal can be helpful. However, with misrepresentation they tend to side with the seller unless you can prove that the seller lied.

If you have doubts about a listing, ask explicit questions before placing a bid. If photos are blurry, that's a red flag. If someone does a "quick listing" from their iPhone, don't be afraid to ask for larger, clearer pictures. Ask for measurements, ask for a physical description, anything you can think of. If the seller offers to mail information to you directly if you provide an email address DECLINE THE OFFER. Ask that they update the listing with the info, otherwise ebay will not take it into account if you end up filing a claim at a later date.

Not so far, I really love ebay. I recently really needed money to help pay off my credit cards. I sold a bunch of my stuff that is just laying around my house and I made about $1000. I love selling stuff on ebay because there's bound to be someone out there who wants to buy your things. I have found it's much cheaper for me to buy some products on ebay then at the store (for example, razor refills). When I sell something I always wait for payment first before I ship. If I'm buying something, I always make sure it's from a seller who has enough feedback.

I have had quite a few bad experiences. I have also sold over 5659 items, 42 motorcycles and purchased numerous items as well.

I do wish there was an alternative to Ebay--I would drop it in a second!

I have not. Except for buying a dud of a saddle once, but that was my fault.

not yet. I am sure that if I spend enough time on ebay I will at some point.
