I don't observe it, but I'd like to give up my job for Lint. LOL!

I wouldn't give up anything for it - the amount of times I've had to clean it out of the lint-trap in my dryer is ridiculous.

Oh, you mean Lent. I forgot Pancake Day was yesterday, so Master's not going to let me hear the end of it. And I'm not any sort of Christian, so I have no reason to observe it. Although he's Anglican, so I'll ask him what he gave up.

I'm not a practicing Catholic, so I'm not giving up anything for Lent this year.

I'm not a Catholic (any longer) and it's been years since I actually gave something up for Lent. However, I am thinking about observing my own version of it.

I have this bad addiction to chips. Flaming hot cheetos, mostly. I will go through at least two full bags a week if not more. I think that's way too many bags of chips. It's almost the only reason I will read a book anymore, too. Because I like to munch on the chips while I read. And I have eaten entire bags of chips in one sitting because I was reading.

I'm going to try to replace the bags of chips with bags of sliced carrots or something else that's at least a little healthier. I may not last the full 40 days and 40 nights, and I don't expect myself to. I just want to try it for at least two weeks and see from there.

I never really got the reason for it.

If it's your thing, have at thee!

The basic idea, as I understand it seems nice - giving up something you truly like for a time - and appreciating it more after that.

lolol, I remember in middle-school and high-school, people gave up the silliest things for Lent and it seemed kind of pointless.

I am no religious, so I do not observe.
