Are you a member of anything?

I'm curious. My boyfriend and I were discussing why he doesn't want to join a motorcycle club and it got me thinking. I don't belong to any groups of any kind. The only membership card in my posession is to Costco Are any of you members of anything? Churches? social clubs? freemasons? elks? VFW's? Community groups? anything?

A Montana paranormal investigation group (I moved away so it's a long distance membership), the Medusas (we disbanded years ago, but those boys are still good upright citizens), Paradigm City (also disbanded, but I was accused of being a famous television writer while part of it).

I usually get involved with the community theatre and library wherever I am. Nothing recent; I've been dealing with too much personal stuff to be able to politely offer my time and support. I want to again.

Nothing really just the occasional volunteer work although I have been thinking about joining a hiking club

I go to several BDSM groups, and I'm a member of the makeup artist's union.

I'm a member of a lowrider car club, and I was in Girl Scouts for a good 10 years or so, lol

Apart from the EF community, I don't belong to any group. I have in the past, but it's not really my sort of thing.

Wow we are talking about things like Costco too?

I'm a member of or have been a member of too many things to list.

LOL, Costco was just my example of how membership-less I am. But do feel free to list any wholesale shopping affiliations you may have

Heh - I was a member of the PTA (known here as the Home And School Association), I have City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health certification in Bloodborne Pathogens, Cross Contamination, and Infectious Disease Control, as part of the registered Body Artists Program, I belong to a gym, we are members of a private swim club in our neighborhood, and the community association for our neighborhood. I have a library card too!

Another thread just reminded me of this - total blonde moment, I know - I'm a member of NORML - the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. And no, I don't smoke it - never so much as tried.

The only memberships I have are to online sites (EF, Ravelry, etc.). I just don't tend to enjoy many social groups. Book clubs I've joined tend to be a lot of pretentious college english majors who want to talk trash about anyone who reads books without meanings (Meaning: Mainstream fictional writers are not on their book lists). I'm not part of any churches and many wiccan groups are just a bunch of teens and people under 25 who want to play dress up. So pretty much I've given up on "real life" groups.

I am a part of a local swing group and help out with events. I am also a part of the One Parent Family Association.

How is that for total opposites *snickers*

Just two local BDSM clubs. Aside from that, nothing.

Nothing really, maybe a few websites but no real memberships. I was in a group called Geeky Girls but.. it ended pretty fast.

I thought I already answered this. Hmmm

Anyway. I was a La Leche League leader for more than 20 years and a member for longer than that. I kind of burned out on it, and with the advent of the internet, people tend to want less "women to women" groups.

I'm a PTA member. I belong to a few professional organizations related to my profession. I rarely go to meetings anymore though.

I'm a member of "Articulate Educated women who say "Fuck" a lot" on Facebook! I hate Facebook.

No surprises here, I'm afraid. I am part of an immigrant rights group and a member of a communist party - the same one to which the Love of My Life belongs, but different from those that my father and my grandfather had joined.

A couple of different groups (5-ish I think).

Interesting that only one person so far is active enough in a political party to note it.

It didn't occur to me. I'm a Registered Democrat and a member of our County's Democratic Party Association. I worked on the Obama Campaign and several others. Hope to again the next time. I used to be a member of the Civil Liberties Union. I let my membership slide when money got tight (I know, not a good excuse.) I am also member of People for the American Way (a Left Wing Org)

We're part of a Meet Up group in the area. It's a lot of fun, we get to go out and meet new people..although there's really just a small group of us who go to most events, so we've actually made some good friends through it.
