Are you more of an Idealist or a Pragmatist?

Contributor: spiced spiced
Which one of these is more you:

Idealist: a person who cherishes or pursues high or noble principles, purposes, goals, etc.

For additional, clarity, an idealist believes in Idealism: the tendency to represent things in an ideal form, or as they might or should be rather than as they are, with emphasis on values.

Pragmatist: a person who is oriented toward the success or failure of a particular line of action, thought, etc.; a practical person.

A pragmatist believes in Pragmatism: a philosophical movement or system having various forms, but generally stressing practical consequences as constituting the essential criterion in determining meaning, truth, or value.

I know most of us aren't entirely idealistic or pragmatic. But which is closer to you?

I'm incredibly practical, which may be why I'm not happy much.

I have ideals and values, but when it comes to achieving them, I'm pragmatic. Better to compromise and make imperfect (but real) progress than to dig in your heels and get nowhere, IMO.
