Are you sensing more or less "holiday cheer" among your friends, family and coworkers, this year. 2012?

I sense a palatable unease this year. Maybe the economy, maybe other things, but the level of "cheer" is less then I have seen in a long time.

Anyone else sense this?

I agree. I think it is mainly because of the economy.

Yeah I agree. The economy is certainly one thing, I do work with increasing numbers of families in need, but when you start hearing about Christmas before Thanksgiving, I think that dampens the spirit too. Especially when it is all about commercialism.

I've personally noticed less holiday consumers in the mall where I work, but I'm seeing an awful lot of holiday spirit in the people I know in spite of (or possibly because of) the smaller of focus on consumerism.

I have noticed, working in retail, that people seem to be pretty grumpy this year. Maybe they all think the Mayan hoopla is right.
