I'm planning to move overseas this year, but want to have a phone I can use when I come back to the U.S. I did a lot of research about which type of phone I would need, which would be some sort of quad band GSM phone. (It was overwhelming to see all the different types of phones out there!) I plan to use this on T-Mobile's network while I'm here.

I'm just wondering if there are any cell phone experts out there who would like to share their wisdom with me about the best types of phones for my situation. I'm hoping for something not too expensive in case something happens to it, since I won't have any sort of contract or insurance with it.

I've heard the Motorola RAZR v300/195 are reliable options (older ones, I know), but I want to see what other choices I might have.
