Can you use a Visa Gift Card to pay via Paypal?

I'm just wondering if anyone here has done this before?

I want to purchase items from ebay and personal online small business type websites that check out using paypal. I only shop online with visa gift cards. Is there a way to make it work?

One time I tried to check out on a personal store with paypal and it denied my card even though I registered it.

If anyone knows a way around this please let me know!
