Cell Phone Usage

Contributor: SecretToyLover2 SecretToyLover2
I was looking at my bill last month, and my husband scolded me for using 600 minutes in a month. Now, let's break this down...

60 minutes is an hour. Times that by 10 and you get 600, which means I talked for ten hours. I don't think this is all too bad because I live away from my family, and phone is our only way of speaking.

Him, on the other hand, living in the same state as his family, only talked for 200 minutes. So he feels all "cool" and whatnot.

How many minutes do you use, and explain what you think is okay and not okay in the comments. Feel free to add other details.

You actually didn't include my answer. I use less than 100 minutes per month. I don't really call at all, I text with my plan.

Haha, me too. One month I hit 40 minutes and I was like, "OMG I SURE CALLED A LOT OF PEOPLE". XD

I use much less than one hour a month on the phone even though it is ridiculously cheap for me to make phone calls. I text.

I live in China, my family lives in Canada, America and England. We all use Skype to talk. My sister calls me almost daily to talk between ten minutes to an hour, she calls on her way to work, and we talk through Skype. She's on her phone, and I'm on my computer. Mucho cheapo!!!

I know that I use more than 1000 minutes a month. My cell is the only phone I have and sometimes I talk to my MIL for 4 hours in a single day, so that is 240 minutes there alone and I use to talk to her daily or every other day at the least. When my dad or mom call I talk to them hour at least. I use my phone way more to text. I use to run out of my 1000 text within 10 days, so I text like crazy. We switched to unlimited plan, so I could use my phone how much I want too. Luckily straight talk (which is available at Wal mart and is Trackphone, but it only works in the U.S.) is only $45 a month. It is cheaper to order the cell online when you purchase one, than to go to Wal mart.

I am literally and I'm not even kidding, on the phone 24/7 except when I go to school. So, 624h/month or so. Ahaha.

So about 37440 minutes.

I use maybe 100 minutes a month at most. Unfortunately, I need to add minutes every 60 days or so to keep my account active, so I'm building up quite a few minutes that I'm not using.

We're currently living with my parents. But when we weren't I was easily over 900. (Lived out of state as well..) I'd call nightly and average each night was probably an hour.

BUT....95% of the calling was made once we hit unlimited evening minutes.

We both use very few minutes. After adopting my nephew, the minutes seemed to have increased?

Coincidence? I think not.

I voted "I don't know how many minutes", but I'd say I average like...20. I am soooo not a phone person. I text quite a bit and use Twitter/FB from my phone, but very little actual talking.

Up until yesterday, we only had 500 between the two of us. But I usually don't make many personal calls during the week and nights/weekends are free. He calls his mom in FL a lot but she's on the same network so that's free.

Oh, and I suppose I should elaborate. He started working from home once a week and that shot up our minutes so I upped our plan. I work from home, but we do everything on the computer, rarely pick up the phone for work.

Between the two of us I think we share 600 minutes or so and I kind of wish we had the rollover minutes because I know we don't use that many of them. I use the most, and that ends up being talking to my sister for the most part. She lives out of state right now while she's at school.

I couldn't answer. I think I used somewhere in the range of 60 yo 100 minutes a month. I am not a big phone talking person. My home business is done from my land line, so most of my counseling calls are from there. Even then, my husband barely uses the phone (he calls me, our kids, his ma and one or two buddies, and his average phone call lasts about one minute) and our kids have cells phones; they use massive amounts of minutes, at one point we had to call both our older daughters on the carpet for something like more than 100 texts a day. We remedied the situation by making them pay for a text package.... the result; fewer texts.

But, I'm usually one of those people who gets on the phone and can't wait to get off. I prefer to talk to people in person. When I was in my teens and 20s you couldn't get the phone out of my hand, but I just don't spend much time on the phone nowdays.

I have unlimited, so I have no idea how many minutes I use per month. I need to have unlimited minutes, because I live 500 miles away from my family and my boyfriend. I probably talk on the phone way more than 10 hours per month.

I don't live near my family, but I don't care for the phone. We talk, but I usually write them on FB mail or we text. I am at about 300 minutes a month, but sometimes way under that. Just depends on what's going on with everyone. I hate being on the phone to "talk" about nothing... Lol

I have unlimited everything but I don't use a lot of minutes. I use a lot of texting. I know I usually use at least 7000 texts a month.

I use to use a lot of minutes, way over 600 before my father passed because I was always talking to him. Since then I'm down to about 200-300 and thats only because I have customers calling. If it wasn't for them I'd be down to about 100 or so. I rarely use the phone besides texting if I have the choice.

I have a land line and am not that big of a phone talker so my minutes range on how many times I have to call the house to check on the kids when I am running errands or ask my mother a question while I am out etc. if anything I txt bf more than I use my minutes

I text more than anything else but I live an hour plus away from all my family so the phone is my method of contact for most of them (especially since some of my family is older/doesn't like texting). Plus, for some reason two of my coworkers really really like calling me. one of them will talk on the phone with me for two or three hours a night. It's fucking crazy.
