Cow Pie Bingo, ever heard of it?

Contributor: ToyTimeTim ToyTimeTim
An Academic Booster Club is having a Cow Pie Bingo. They set up a fenced in area and paint squares that fill up the pen. Each square costs $100 and you can buy as many as you want until the day comes. The day of they place a cow (well fed) in the field and wait for nature to run its course.

Winner(s) receive $10,000! Proceeds from the fund-raiser go directly towards academics at the local High School.

Have you folks ever heard of this? I have seen similar type stuff like a radio station in Colorado that dropped a cloths dryer out of a helicopter, but this is the first time I have heard of Cow Bingo.

That seems kind gross to me, but I am a city girl for sure! How much do they expect to raise?

I am not sure and I could not find an amount from last year. Only that a group of five guys won the grand prize of $10,000 and about 20 people won $100. I would guess it would bring in quite a bit as I hear about it all day long on the radio.

I have no words for this.

It's interesting certainly. I'm glad they have a way to raise money, but I don't think I'd personally participate.

I can certainly understand the reactions so far. It is a bit, um..gross to say the least. I should mention that I live in a small town, probably about 12,000 people. I know for sure this is not something that would happen in my home town back in CO.

Back when I was in high school our band tried doing this a few times, (only minor differences were we called it "cow plop", set it loose on the football field, and the prize was only a few hundred, if that). I don't particularly recall how much was raised, but from what I remember the cow we got was stubborn and decided to wait a few hours before doing anything.

haha, ya I read that last year it took an hour. They do have other activities planned like a band and small fair. So I guess everyone is not just sitting there waiting.

My high school actually used to do this, since there was a cow field beside it.

Never heard about this before, and don't really see the appeal. Guess I'm too much of a city boy.

I think I like the randomness of it, kind of like the lotto only with cow pies.
