Creepy urban legends that are actually true

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
This takes place over a series of (so far) 5 articles, and talks about various different urban legends that have come up throughout the years. Whether it be a body under the mattress, being buried a live, waking up at your own funeral, calls from beyond the grave, or the women who was frozen solid in an ice bank and woke right up, weird and freaky shit has happened and been considered so "out there" that we often think it has to have been made up by our uncle's cousin's great-nephew's first dog's walker's pet goldfish or something like that. But no, some of this stuff really freaking happened!

Check out part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, and part 5 to read about some of these things.

Eek. Most of these are too creepy for me. Though I did know about body farms, thanks to Sherlock fandom!

In my Forensic Anthropology class, we talked about the premature burials. That's why they often had (and we still do) "wakes" for the newly deceased, and that's also where the expression "Saved by the bell" comes from. My odd bit of trivia for the night

Cracked is awesome. I love reading the "creepy"/"odd world" articles to kill time.

I've actually heard of #4 (girl in the closet) in an Uncle John's Bathroom Reader before. It's amazing how it took the homeowner over a year to discover a homeless woman living in the top of his closet.

The forensics class I took in college taught me about the Body Farms, and I actually knew the saved by the bell origins too. Didn't know that about the wakes tho!

YIKES! That was extremely interesting though! I remember my mom telling me about the bells they used back in the day incase they were buried alive. I always get cold chills when thinking about that!
