I'm around a size 14 and I'm seriously sick of my hair. I don't hardly even wear it down but maybe one or two days a week. I'm kind of tempted to cut it short, like in a bob or something close to it but I always hear that curvy/chubby girls should never cut their hair. Also that women in generally shouldn't have short hair cause men don't find it attractive.

What do you girls/guys thing?

Short hair??
Some girls can pull it off really well but overall I'm not a lover of short hair myself and it wouldn't look good on me.

What matters more than your body size is whether the features on your face are right for short hair. If you don't have a full face or a large nose, short hair can look really cute no matter what your body size.

I know a large woman who looks terrific with short hair.

I agree with Tuesday. It is going to depend on all of your features combined. Most people prefer me with longer hair but my ex loved short hair on me. So it also depends on the guy, as to whether they find you attractive!

I think that it all depends on a persons facial features.

That's what I was thinking but I just wanted to ask and see what everyone thought. I have an oval shaped face with a normal sized nose. It'll prolly work out great

I'm plus sized, and have a shaved head.

Most people like it, some don't, but it's my head, not theirs. Do what makes you comfortable!

I agree with this. It's all about your face. Also, it depends on how short you're going to cut it.

I ended up going shoulder-length cause I'm a wuss after all these years. It actually makes me look smaller than I am. Thanks for your input.

I agree. I'm fat (yeah, I called myself fat) and I have had short hair since I was about 15. Everyone tells me I look like a lesbian, but whatever. Just do what you want!

I just got mine cut shoulder length--shortest it's ever been!--and I love it.

If I were going to consider a really dramatic hairstyle change, I know I can trust my hair stylist to let me know if it will work or not (because she has told me when an idea wasn't the greatest!). I get my hair cut at a local Aveda salon, and they're trained to know what styles work best for different face types.

I'm... somewhere between curvy and fat, and I've been everything from nearly butt-length (where I'm at currently, due to my significant other's preference) to almost completely bald (less than 1/4").

I've got a chubby face--I'm 22.5 and I still can pass for 17 or younger--and it's amplified with shorter hair. But it doesn't necessarily look bad.

Get what you want and just rock it, no matter what anyone thinks!

Maybe just touching the "shoulder" length, rather than really short hair, might be a good idea. Long hair drags your posture down, while shorter hair will lighten-up your figure up. Men generally prefer long hair, but that doesn't mean you have to abide by that preference, the important thing is what you're comfortable with.

I'm a Sz XL and right now my hair is long b/c I'm growing it out for a purpose.... but I find that my longer hair makes me look chubbier and ALOT younger ... and when I mean a lot younger, I mean people mistake me for a 16 year old. I say short hair. Nothing too short, but chin length is fine. For myself personally, I wouldn't go shorter than chin length, but that's just because I have chubby cheeks lol

I identify as genderqueer, so I can't really help on the looking feminine thing, but I'm plus-sized, female-bodied, and keep my hair at jaw-length. I've had it everything from long enough to hit my tailbone to buzzed, and I find that I prefer this length. It's easy to care for, but long enough to frame my face.

It's hair. The worst thing that happens is it takes awhile to grow back out. Experiment.

I wouldn't have it as short as a bob, but down to your shoulder, with maybe an inch above that, would look quite nice.

After cutting it shoulder length, just grazing the shoulders. I think it might make me look thinner.. like said above.. my hair was long and seemed to kind of drag me down. I look/feel a bit better and I'm smiling a lot more.

My hubby loved my LONG, LONG hair. When I had a child, it had to go. No time to play with hair. I have had it short ever since..and frankly, while he does still miss the hair (and says so), he sure does not seem to find me "less" attractive or sexy. Your weight does not matter here either...nice style, suited to your face, is far more an issue. A curvy girl can look VERY professional and cute with shorter hair!!!

Any woman can look good with long OR short hair...so long as it looks "put together" and as part of your own "look". The biggest help would be a hair dresser you can trust!!!

I agree with Bignuf. Talk to a good stylist about what they think would work best with your face shape. But overall, I've found that if you have a style you love, and it makes you feel confident and like you have a "look", it's always fantastic. Have fun!!

I have a friend who is a size 18. She has a cute little a line bob that looks awesome on her! I say go for it!

I'm chubby and I have had short hair before. It looked GREAT. What I really want is similar to a pixie cut but I just saw this great picture online where the hair was dyed every color of the rainbow and braided.

Now I have to keep my hair long to see if I can do that.

It all depends on your facial structure. Some women can pull off short hair, and some can't. It also depends on what sort of short hair style you're talking about. See if you can find one of those makeover applications online where you upload a pic and alter it to see how you'd look.

I see you've already gotten it cut, but as I was gonna say, my wife is curvy as well and looks so much better with long hair with short hair, I am attracted to her regardless, but I love the long hair
