I've only ever used a desktop computer but when I get tired of sitting here, I long for a laptop. I've been using someone else's a bit lately but think that I may prefer a desktop after all. Which do you prefer?
I think we're moving toward a desktop/home base computer and hand held unit combo.
I have a lappy and it's handy, but sometimes wish I had a desky instead. If you spill something on the keyboard, you're just out a keyboard. If you spill on a laptop, you have a HUGE paperweight.
I prefer laptops. It's convenient, and does everything that I need it to do. It did take me awhile to get used to the laptop though, as I'd only used desktops prior to purchasing this one.
In my opinion, one of each is best. Spend what you can on a desktop, and get the cheapest laptop you can. Laptops tend to die after a short amount of time no matter how much you spend, but desktops have a lot more lasting power.
I use a high end gaming desktop (or, more accurately, my boyfriend does!), and I use the cheapest 10 inch netbook I could find (around $100)! I love them both.
desktop...I hate laptop scroll pad things...they suck!
Plus you cant upgrade anything on a laptop you have to do the whole thing! With a desktop you can upgrade everything from the screen to waterblocks

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I'll just stick to big old desktops.

Both! But not exactly. I used desktop at home, and a mini notebook when at mobile. I really don't think that there's a place for a laptop. They're too bulky to be mobile.

I game a lot, so a desktop is easier to upgrade than a laptop. Also gaming laptops are usually bulky and weigh tons. I mostly use laptops for net surfing and the like as they tend to be thinner/lighter.

Actually, you can change out parts on a laptop. I've replaced my keyboard, and my monitor. It's a little more complex than replacing parts on a desktop, of course.

You can use a separate mouse with a laptop. I have a little lapdesk that I got for $25 that has a little pull out spot for a mouse. I purchased a cheap wireless mouse, and I've been using that since I got the laptop. MUCH easier than the little finger mouse pad.
