That batteries came about because of the dissection of a frog? 'Tis true!

Alessandro Volta was dissecting a frog when he noticed that if he touched the frog's leg with a metal scalpel it contracted. He theorized that the metal was causing the discharge and the frog's nerves reacted to the charge. He devised a way to show what he had discovered and from that we have batteries!

Poor froggy . My mom was telling me about early pregnancy tests, apparently they used to inject a baby female mouse with women's urine and had to kill her to find out test results .

I always forget about those...it's pretty interesting but who is to say that everything hasn't been discovered before and we just don't know it yet?

Yes, I actually did know this. We had to dissect a frog in high school and that is when they told us. We were shocked to find out why the frog jumped when the scalpel touched it. I was scared out my wits.
