Do you believe in Hell?

Contributor: That Guy That Guy
I've got a really long answer for this, but I don't want to bore you all with the details. The short version is this: Hell can't exist unless God is Satan, worse than Satan, or just a giant kid with a magnifying glass frying his creations for fun. That theory operates on the assumption that you believe God created everything, but most people who believe in Hell assume that God was the creator. If God created you, your soul, and everything around you, He was in a unique position to control every decision you make. At the risk of offending anybody, I'll say that no loving God would create something and then torture it for being made poorly.

I do not believe in hell. I think it is a concept that was created to scare people into doing things that the church wanted them to do. If god created us why would he let us disapear into such a place as hell.

Also I do not believe that life is a test. It is an opportunity to live a human existenece. We can live what ever life we want to live, It's maginificant. God loves us enough to let us make the mistakes that we do. He doesn't interefere with our will. Every lifetime is an opportunity for god to live as man, and for that human to recognize that he is god living as man. Because god is not one entity or many entities. He is everything. He is life. I understand him to be an essence.

Committing suicide is not an option out of life that we have planned for our selves. But it does happen and when we do this, we do not go to hell, there is no hell. There is no purgatory either. There is only a return to what we are, what we used to be, what we always have been.

It took me a long time to form my opnions. I was afreaid of hell when I was 16ish, and I always questionned its existence. I've read bhuddist texts, the Bhagavad Gita, and a few other things just to get an idea of what different religions believe in and I formed my opnions around what I felt resonated with me. Things that I read that made me feel good, I kept. What doesn't make me feel good I leave.

Hell is a concept that Christians love to throw around. My religion doesn't believe in it, and neither do I. I also do not believe in the same notion of "god" that Christianity does.

After reading that article, I'd like to come back and debunk it for you. Finland is not an English speaking country. A well respected newspaper would not have a headline in english. Therefore, the article is fake. Two, this myth has been around the internet since 1997, and the audio is a bunch of muddy poor sound quality screaming that I could make at home and upload and tell you was actually heaven and in a famous German newspaper, if I so chose.

Third, and almost the most important- the article says the sounds were recorded with a microphone at 2000 degrees. Do you have any idea how hot that is? We don't have a microphone that can stand that, just FYI. The only similar design is something made to hear plate movements in the earth's crust...an entirely different thing that would not be used for that purpose, nor would it be capable of recording those sound and such an inferior quality. Those sounds wouldn't even come out. That just further means that some fruitcake evangelical christian in his mothers basement plotted this up. The same christian, who knows that most people don't know didly squat about Europe, and therefore won't pay any attention to the Finland article being in English. Also, "Ammenusastia" i not a paper in Finland, nor does it translate to anything in the languages spoken there. The roughest translation come from "Ammennusastia" which is, roughly, a cross between a ladle and a bucket.

Foruth claim- Hell is only 14KM below us. With an eternity of damnation, you'd think that many people clawing would come out, eh? I mean, there are mines that are 2 miles or more into the earth's crust.. that just sheds a little digging off. Damn those eternally damned souls and their eternity that they could spend digging roughly 8 miles up.

That article is fake, and essentially, is approving the idea that it's okay to lie for your purpose. Does the same "god" that this lunatic fruitcake author is writing for approve of this behaviour and lying?

Oh wait, what's that? This article didn't mention it being 14KM in? Hmm, it's hard to remember when the story is changed a lot. I mean, link says it's 14.4KM, and link says it's 12KM. But that's not important. What's important is hell is somewhere down there in the middle of the Earth!!! Duh. Of course, that then means that there are at least more 6 billion hells, because each planet has a core that is either as hot as ours or hotter. I mean, hell on Earth would be a vacation as opposed to hell in the Sun, holy crap. Sign me up for Earth please!

Also funny that searching for Dr. Azzacov, or Azzacove.. brings up nothing other than numerous links to thousands of different versions of this article. Hmm...

This page further talks about this christian urban legend link

In essence, debunked. That article is stupid. So is the fruitcake that furthered it.

NO ONE IS GOOD ENOUGH TO GET INTO HEAVEN IT CAN'T BE DONE THAT WAY (There is ONE way)

Yes Jesus died for our sins already. No one is good enough to get into heaven(there is ONE way) and The devil is a master deciver truth mixed in with just enough lie that go right under our nose. We have to "study and show thyself approved" and LIVE IT. You don't say I will think about this tommorow or I will do this tommorow you DO IT NOW. Jesus wants our hearts. It's hard to give your heart and people don't like to do it. You have to "pick up your cross daily" (and not a wooden cross or necklace) How good do we have to be to get into heaven? "It can't be done. You can not get into heaven by being good, because no one can be good enough."

The fact is... You will be judged, and you will be found to not be good enough. You will be sentenced to eternal punishment. (Once you are in hell, there is no way out - it is permanent.)

Here on earth what we would do is hire a really good lawyer. A lawyer who knows the court system. A lawyer who knows the law. A lawyer who knows the judge. A lawyer who knows what to do to save us from going to prison. Maybe a lawyer who is even good enough to figure out a way to get some other person to take our punishment so we can go free. (I say, if it's possible, do whatever it takes to avoid eternal punishment. Hell is not a nice place.)

So where do we find a lawyer that is that good, and who can represent us before God?

There is only one who might be able to do this. The judge Himself, Jesus Christ.

But God is just and the law is clear. Those who have sinned must be punished. Even with Jesus representing you, the judgment is clear. If justice is to be served, someone must be punished for the wrongs you have done and the laws you have broken. And that punishment is death - "for the wages (results) of sin is death" - Romans 6:23 (NIV)

This is where something amazing happens. Your lawyer steps forward, and says, "I will take this man's (or woman's) punishment, if he will let me."

This is incredible! You have been found guilty and your lawyer is willing to take your punishment (the death penalty). You can go free! All you need to do is say, yes.

Are you willing to say YES to Jesus? When he died on the cross he took the punishment for all your sins. If you say YES to Jesus, you become pure in God's eyes, and acceptable to come into God's presence in heaven. It doesn't matter who you are or what you have done. Hire Jesus as your lawyer. Tell Him that you are a sinner and that you need Him to represent you. Tell Him that you want to turn away from sin and follow His example. Tell Him that you accept Him into your life. And thank Him for taking your punishment. Thank Him for dor dying on the cross so that your sins are forgiven. Jesus can save you. He is the only one who can save you.

You can talk to Jesus any time, any where.

He is listening right now.

So talk to Him, right now.

- using your moth to say yes is just lip service. " "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (KJV) John 3:16

"For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law." (NASB) Romans 3:28

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (NIV) Ephesians 2:8-9

"If then by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace." (NIV) Romans 11:6

Paul makes an interesting point in the book of Romans. If salvation were the result of our good works, then, once we had done sufficient good works, God would be obligated to give us salvation. Essentially God would be in our power. That's something that can not happen." "Sound confusing?

Technically, based on the Old Testament law, you can get into heaven through your good works. So that still leaves us with the question: How good do you need to be to get into heaven? The answer is that you need to be perfect. You need to be as good and pure as God.

It can't be done! "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23 (NIV)

We can not be saved by following the law. So what is the purpose of the OIld Testament law? Paul tells us:

"...but it is the law that showed me my sin." - Romans 7:7b (NLT)

We can read God's law, and we see that we lie. That we steal. That we lust (commit adultery in our hearts). So we know we are sinners and there is nothing we can do that is good enough. We can never even get close."

I wonder why my message was flagged..Everyone can say how they feel. I didn't tell anyone they had to read that. I didn't mean to put so much spacing was the way it got pasted. Should I have posted a link to the information instead? I mean its up to you if you decide to read a post....everyone else saying what they think I didn't harass anyone. I simply posted some information. No one flagged me when I put up the article about hell, then I posted about getting into heaven..hmmm

Hell no.
I mean, no. I do not.
I'm a proud agnostic, so while I have no defined beliefs or any god(s), I do not believe in heaven or hell.
I believe all souls (and the only reason I force myself to believe in souls is because I don't want to think the people I love are gone forever) roam amongst us here on Earth forever. Happily.

I believe in something like Hell, but I believe you have to be a very special kind of asshole to end up there (maybe you even have to outright sell your soul to end there, but I don't know. No one does.) I don't believe a loving Creator would damn His creations, that's part of the reason I stopped playing the Christian game, I don't like the scare tactics or the poorly built websites. (I also believe that even the souls that do manage to end up in Hell eventually cycle out and are reborn to try again.)

Wow. That was so offensive and so humorous at the same time, I don't know where to begin. Perhaps I'll just give the cliffnotes version.

First off, if someone's trying to scare their own beliefs into me, they're going to get slapped. I'm serious. I've done it before and I will do so again. That's not directed to anyone on here, because from what I've read no one has done that. But, in the past, when so called 'Bible-bashers' have attempted to scare me with those things in person, I've slapped them.

Now, I'm a pagan. Depending on which denomination, Hell is either just another place for you to spend your time in, and isn't all that bad, or it's the eternal torment we all know and wuv.

If there is a hell, where we're tormented for all time, then I'll go without a fuss. I'm happy in my life, and how I live it, and if some cosmic being doesn't approve, then I can hardly fight that, but I'm not ashamed of my life. Not the getting drunk, nor the threesomes, nor the pinching of sweets from Woolworths. If I'm going to be punished for that, then I'm okay with it. Besides, I've lived in England all my life, I could do with the hot weather.

On another note, regarding KGs post: Personally, I'm not a fan of the concept of Jesus dying for my sins. I never asked him to, and it's something that I feel is more rude than helpful. I believe people should answer for their own crimes, and not pass the buck. If I were to ever be in that situation, I'd decline his offer.
