Do you feel it is appropriate not to wear a bra in public?

Well sure that's what the bra was invented for...to provide comfort for those times that you are being physical. Jumping, horse back riding, hell for some women even walking can be painful without the support of a bra but for goodness sake if you are more comfortable without one then My Sisters, BE FREE!

I also used to wear bras all the time. Because of the things that I had heard. But now I can't stand them I don't know if it is because of the car accident I was in. The pain is all in my right shoulder and down back that wearing a bra is not comfortable. Also I used to put bras under everything even tube tops and shirts that don't need them. Now I don't do it and let them alone. I don't find anything wrong with it at all. If you feel comfortable without it then you should not have to wear one. Sometimes my nips do the same thing. I just cover them up with my arm that person should not have been looking at them in the first place.

I am a 34D and I go without a bra on to the grocery store etc. and sometimes im in a black tank or t shirt. It shouldnt matter your not showing your boobs and some bras can expose hard nipples because they are too sheer. People should mind their business lol.

As someone who gets nippleage at the drop of a hat, it doesn't even register on my radar when it happens to someone else.

To be completely honest, I might mentally say "ick" to some things but I would never say something to the person unless they were violating the law, for example, exposing their crotch (yes, it's happened).

Personally it depends for me on where I am going. If its just a quick trip to the mail boxes, the corner store or something where I am only going to be gone from the apartment for maybe 10-15 min, I will go braless.

Now, if I am going to be gone for a while then I tend to put one on only because I don't feel comfortable with out it. That is just a personal thing.

i've had really fashionable friends tell me they were envious of my hard nipples. so.

I hear ya. It is that live viewing I seen where a grandmother was showing a girlfriend of mine what happens when a bra is never worn. Flopped it right over her shoulder.

On the other hand, my mom at 75 has the same looking chest she always had.

I agree, be comfy.

AMEN. They are just BOOBS. It's crazy how many people go Carrie's mom (I CAN SEE YOUR DIRTY PILLOWS ) on this issue (in Mississippi anyway). I also hate the idea that large breasts are somehow more "obscene" than small breasts, as if smaller-breasted women are somehow inherently more pure or something than large-breasted women because they don't have JUGS.

I hate how prudish the US is and how this country's priorities are out of whack. OMG that woman isn't wearing a bra! Don't look, Tommy! (Meanwhile Tommy is eating fast food and watching 6 hours of TV a day and shooting the holy hell out every living thing in some video game, but that flies just fine.)

Sadly breasts are so sexualized that women can't do these things without issue, We need to be more like countries that have accept boobs like any other body part.

For me it would be a horrible thing to do, but htere are tons of women that can pull it off just fine. Personally I don't care who does and doesn't wear a bra and where they do or don't decide to do it is none of my business.

It's your own choice! As long as you're not breaking a public indecency type law it's not like anyone can do anything!

On a side note, a few years ago I read a book about manners and it said it is completely proper to go out with no bra as long as you pass a "pencil test" - if your breasts are saggy enough that if you stick a pencil beneath one it stays in place, you need a bra. If it falls, you're fine. Seems very silly to me, but I guess it works for some people.

But, but......plenty of women with (large) perky breasts could "fail" this test.

Huh. I passed.

I have my nipples pierced and they aren't always hard. They act just like they did before I got them done.

If you are out in public you should wear a bra, especially if it is OBVIOUS that you aren't wearing one.

You could hurt a lot of younger girls out with their boyfriends that don't have high self-esteem if you go out half-dressed. Plus I feel that it is innapropriate not to, save it for the bedroom... a man doesn't want to see his woman showing off to every guy that walks by.

You can practically walk outside naked and not be breaking "public indecency" laws.

And that books sounds a little odd to me ?

Really, I wouldn't feel comfortable not wearing a bra in public. I get cold easily, and I don't want my nips showing.

I feel like it really depends on the outfit. If it's a cute haltertop, dark summer dress go for it! I know that I do! If I have a strapless dress I am NOT wearing a bra. Now if you're wearing a thin white shirt in the middle of the winter, it might be best to wear a bra. It's really up to you, though, and those are just my standards.

Hi, I voted male and I'm trans. When I presented as female it happened really often that wearing one made me feel dysphoric, so I usually didn't wear any and the only persons commenting on it ever were a drunk man and a boy at my ex-junior high school gym class (last one not negatively, just surprised; the drunk man yelled vulgar things, though.)
I think I am a B-cup and wore more or less loose shirts.
I really don't care about a woman not wearing one, though it might be weird to me if these are a higher cup I won't be an asshole about it.
Also, some bras still let nipples show and even make them get hard, in some situation it would happen and I would go without.
It's a matter of what you're both emotionally and physically more comfortable with.

If you have small breast and with the right shirt sure. No way with my DDD's. They would be all over the place. To bad I find bras way uncomfortable since I became a DDD. First thing that comes off when I get home is the bra them shoes lol.

There wasn't an 'other' post!

I am thoroughly of the opinion that we can wear whatever we feel comfortable in (bra or no bra) on our own time in public.

I do think that it's fair for employers to require bras though, in cases where it would impact their business (say you work at a restaurant in a conservative district in town) or where it might be a health hazard (lots of moving belts/chains in a factory). In those cases, if not wearing a bra makes such a big difference you should find a different job.

Going to the grocery store, though? Psh. Free country. I won't waggle my tits in front of kids (I usually have a baggy t-shirt on if I'm going braless) but I would be a little affronted if someone said I looked inappropriate to be at a grocery store just because I wasn't wearing a bra.

It is absolutely no one's business but my own what I wear, regardless of my 42DDD/40E breasts. My breasts are not inherently sexual and neither is my body. I should be able to wear whatever clothes I enjoy without fear of prosecution from people around me.

I don't see the big deal about nipples. Some shirts look really bad without a bra but who cares anyway.

I think it depends on a lot of things. First of all, I can see how very large chested women may cause more damage than good by keeping them constantly in a bra. Seems like it would shift all the weight in one area causing strain?

Anyways, I have one breat nearly a C cup and one's only an A! Even the small breast shows through shirts like a pointy lump. I personally feel inappropriate going out without a bra on if I'm wearing a t-shirt or anything low cut. If I'm wearing a top or dress that either hides the shape/nipples or squishes them enough to conceal the shape of them, I won't wear a bra. In fact, I didn't wear one yesterday. I wore a dress that held them in well.

If they're all over the place and really showing through a shirt or clothing is revealing already, I feel personally, that it would be best to be conservative. Not necessarily by wearing an uncomfortable bra, but maybe pasties, nad aids, or something comfortable that will help cover. I don't like wearing my low cut silky pajama cami around the kids because you can practically see my boobs right through it. I wear a sports-type of bra underneath until they're in bed. Or I'll wear a baggy t-shirt and no bra.

I don't think it's a huge deal, but there's usually something comfortable most can do to keep from really exposing so much of yourself. Wearing a loose t-shirt and no bra is no big deal. If you're home, I wouldn't worry about it at all. My partner thinks it's sexy too, when I get chilly and you can see them through my top. I would NOT want other people being able to see me like that in public though, but that's because I don't like to expose my body to others. Otherwise, I don't mind.

I never sleep in a bra and never will. There's always a way around it. Lol

Yep! You can actually get sued for walking around topless in most of the US, but in some cities it's legal. New York and Canada both had some controversy surrounding the issue a few years ago, I think.

And yes, it was!
