Do you go to sleep, at night, by the sound of the TV in the bedroom?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
All these books on romance say "have NO TV in the bedroom". Likewise, many experts on sleep say the bedroom should be a place of CALM (ie NO TV). I think almost all Americans DO have a TV in their bedroom, and DO watch it before bed.

DO you?

I need noise to fall asleep but I like the fan better. Sometimes the TV just keeps me up later.

I love my fish tank; when I moved to my new apartment I put it in the living room (used to be in my room) so I had to sleep out there for 2 weeks---I couldn't sleep without the noise!

I need a quiet room free of distractions to sleep well. No TV. I don't really care for watching TV either way.

I can't really sleep with noise going on in the background. I'm a light sleeper.

I like having the TV on to go to sleep. I've been doing it that way for a long time and I have a hard time falling asleep without it. I keep the volume down really low so that it doesn't keep my husband awake, and set a timer so that it's not on all night with nobody watching.

I have fallen asleep to the sound of the tv for as long as I can remember. I'm really trying to break the habit.

My boyfriend and I have a television in the bedroom, and 99%of the time we'll go to bed with it on, and once he's asleep I'll turn it off so I can sleep too ^^;;

My wife tends to watch the TV more at night in the bedroom more than I do. I will admit to watching it sometimes, depending on what is on. Mostly I just drive her nuts by going to sleep in less than 5 minutes by just closing my eyes and going to sleep.

Im thinking of trying something after reading this thread. I usually watch stuff on my computer because we moved the tv in the front room. And I will make a super long playlist of movies so it will just play through the entire night. About 6 7 hours. But since I want to get out of this habit maybe I will shorten my list every night so it will cut off while Im sleeping. Than perhaps I wont need it at all eventually??!?! At least I that will be my goal.

We have a tv but I don't like to watch it before bed so I usually shut it off and read or cuddle with my Master.

I only turn it on in the morning, while I'm doing my morning rituals. We don't use the bedroom TV on most nights, unless we're hiding in our room watching porn. My husband needs the bedroom to be totally quiet at night, or else he's not able to fall asleep.

A TV in the room is a major distraction to me. I wouldn't be able to sleep with it on, and random out of place noises can make me wake up violently.

LOVE TV IN THE BEDROOM! I can't sleep without it unless I'm camping. Even then I need a radio.

Have to tell you a funny story. I went camping in Yosemite. At night we saw a BLUE GLOW from every single tent in a hundred yard zone. In the morning I asked everyone what they were doing...of course, everyone had the computers, or tablets with them...doing 3 or 4 G and MANY were "watching TV" on their computers!!! Can't miss "America's Got Talent" or "Great Race" even when camping!!!!

I need the background noise to fall asleep - I can't fall asleep without it. Plus, it masks the sound of snoring

I have no tv in my bedroom, and would not be able to fall asleep if one was on. I hate staying in hotels because I c an hear tv through the walls...

If I was living with someone who wanted a tv in the bedroom I'd feel totally unloved, and like they cared more about tv than about conversing with me.

So, no. Very vehemently no.

Bed is the only time some days where my partner and I get to really talk and catch up.. so there's no tv in our bedroom. We go to bed an hour early on busy days so we can take that time to catch up on anything we're missing in one anothers lives.
