Do you go to sleep, at night, by the sound of the TV in the bedroom?

Watching before bed is okay, but if it's on it distracts me from sleeping!

I am very opposed to having a tv in the bedroom. I know I can't sleep with it on. When I was dating my ex it caused a lot of problems during sex because we'd have a movie on and he would get distracted by the movie or whatever and quit paying attention to me and focus on the movie. Then I'd get mad and we'd fight. So never again will I have a tv in the bedroom.

we have a tv on the wall in the bedroom. However we do not leave it on to fall asleep. We use it to watch movies or the news at night, thats about it.

I've a TV in my bedroom, but I watch the one in the living room before bed. But I either turn it off, or go to bed in the knowledge that someone else will turn it off. I prefer not to waste energy on leaving it on all night.

All these books on romance say "have NO TV in the bedroom". Likewise, many experts on sleep say the bedroom should be a place of CALM (ie NO TV). I think almost all Americans DO have a TV in their bedroom, and DO watch it before bed.

DO you?
I do what works for us, I pay little attention to books written by people who have no researched data for what they say. "All the romance books say...." I don't think I've ever read a "romance book." We have a great relationship and I doubt there is anything a book written by someone simply stating what works for THEM will apply to my husband and myself.

I NEVER leave the TV on when I am trying to sleep. I don't think that is good sleep hygiene for me.

We have a TV in our room. Why? We sometimes watch TV before bed. Not always, though. I like some privacy during the day, and will on occasion lock myself in my room with Billy the Exterminator or Hoarders or an old Andy Griffith, just to relax. We also BOND by watching Sunday Morning after making love on... Sunday Morning. I also don't like to be alone downstairs, so if My Man goes to bed before me, I like to be in the same room that he is, whether that is reading, watching TV, trying to get him to fuck me, or just hanging out with him.

Our bedroom is a place of calm. If I need little stimulation the TV does have an OFF button. I use it frequently.

Also, we only have two televisions in our house. When My Man and I watch a film on TV that may not be for children we use the TV in the living room (I don't mean "'adult films" I simply mean things inappropriate for children) so our little one has the option of reading or playing in her room or a small amount of time watching TV in our room. She's a respectful child, so she can be trusted in our room.

ALSO, we like to watch porn. We do NOT watch it in the living room or on the computer in the evening (we don't have a lap top, and our internet computer is in the home library, where anyone has access.) We want complete privacy when we watch porn, and in our situation the only place to watch it is in our bedroom.

It doesn't interfere with our need for calm. (And if you saw us have sex, you'd not think we were calm people at all. )

I do sometimes watch TV in bed, but never leave it on to fall asleep to. I can't easily fall asleep to noise, or more importantly light. I like it dark.

Wow! So glad I "read every post before responding!"

This exactly! We have one in our room. We NEVER have it on while we are sleeping (or else we'd never sleep). We like to watch porn on it behind locked doors, or watch Sunday morning (8AM our time) football, after a nice weekend morning, roll in the hay, and I like to escape to watch Young and the Restless or Pawn Stars in peace.

Our bedroom is very much our sanctuary. Having a TV in our room in no way distracts or rile us up.

We would never consider NOT having a TV in our bedroom.

We have a studio apartment at the moment so we have no choice but to have the TV in our "bedroom". We would prefer not to have to do this and will be keeping the TV separate when we move.

I had a TV in my room for about a month, and it was a TERRIBLE distraction. I would watch 3 or 4 hours of TV and lose a ton of sleep without ever meaning to, so I'm anti TV in the bedroom.
