Do you hate public speaking?

Contributor: Gdom Gdom
I've read that public speaking is one of the biggest fears today. And many of those that aren't strictly "afraid" of public speaking still seem to dislike it for one reason or another. So, do you dislike public speaking or do you have a different viewpoint on the subject?

I don't enjoy it one bit.

I have anxiety big time, so I hate it. I don't hate it as much as heights, but it's pretty close.

I used to hate it, but after having to speak in public so often it just doesn't really phase me anymore. I still get a bit nervous, but I get over that pretty quickly now.

I think once I got over the stage fright and had a few successes under my belt, I might be okay.

I'd feel sorry for anyone sitting in the far back, I'm so damn tiny no one would be able to see me without a gigantic television broadcasting to the back of the auditorium.

I used to hate it, but I have done it enough that it doesn't bother me anymore.

I used to abhor it. Now, I still get nervous before I get on stage, but once I'm up there, it doesn't really affect me anymore.

I actually love it. I'm a bit of an egomaniac at times, and have a definite trace of ham in me, and I like being the center of attention. I like being able to get up in front of a large group and just wow them - the only time I've ever choked on stage was from being excited.

Everyone's got their things.

I don't enjoy it but I'm able to do it. I've held speeches in front of entire schools before.

I haven't had the opportunity yet to speak in public, but I actually enjoyed Speech class in college, so I think I would be fine. Depending on the audience of course.

I hate it, and I'll do just about anything to get out of it. I've gotten panic attacks when giving speeches in front of the class, which was pretty humiliating.

I wish it wouldn't have been mandatory to take public speaking in college. I definitely don't feel like I learned anything other than the only way I can get through a speech in front of a class is to take lots of anxiety medication.

I actually have a degree in public speaking and I LOVE it...but I also have social anxiety disorder. So I love to do the presentation but hate the glad handing afterwards. It is a weird dichotomy.

I can do it, but I get very nervous. I hate being the center of attention and therefor hate public speaking.

I'm actually quite good at public speaking, but I'm still not a big fan of it.

I haven't done much public speaking in a while, but I don't dread it. I get a little anxious beforehand, but generally perform rather well, despite my dislike of large crowds.

Yes, I hate all those eyes staring at me.

It's silly because when I'm in the audience for anything I know that I'm barely paying attention and couldn't care less about the speaker, but when I'm speaking I still assume everyone is sat there judging me.

Yes, badly. I don't even want to get into how many times I took the class and dropped out before I finally stayed in. I have bad anxiety and just worried everyone is judging me negatively.
