Do you like to go to karaoke?

Contributor: M121212 M121212
I went out to karaoke last night for my friend's birthday and it was so fun! Just wondering if anyone else out there is into it.

Do you have to be drinking/drunk to sing karaoke? Do you have a favourite standby song that you always do?

I don't go out of my way to go but I also don't dislike going at all. I don't need to be drinking at all to get up and sing (even knowing that I am certainly no American Idol). I do enjoy it while I'm there and have a ton of fun, I just prefer to sit at home and relax.

Been there, done that twenty-something years ago, got tired of it. Yes, I'm one of the old geezers! We used to go with a group of friends, get a private room, drinking bottles of cognac while we sing. Those were our crazy days! I think we still have a first generation laser Karaoke machine somewhere in our garage!

No I do not like it. I've been many times though but I'd prefer to not go again.

I love to go! I used to do it quite a bit, but stopped.

I've actually wanted to go out and do it again, but I have to be drinking to really enjoy it and I don't believe in drinking and driving.

Favorites:
"Interstate Love Song" - Stone Temple Pilots
"Add it up" - Violent Femmes
"Tangerine Speedo" - Cavier (once, it was awesome)

It's hard finding a song you can sing within your range sometimes.

I used to go all the time when I was in China. Not so much recently. My boyfriend kinda frowns on the activity, so I haven't been going much lately.

I can't sing worth a crap. I'm so bad that when my children were little they would cry if Momma started singing to them. That being said there isn't a Thanksgiving or Christmas that goes by that my sister and I don't get silly and start singing "It's hard to be humble". Clears a room pretty quickly

i can't sing, but make up for it by singing obvious joke songs (weird al) and acting silly.

I used to go to a bar up the street twice a week and sing, I and best friends with the dj so I get to have tons of fun.

Cheers to the Violent Femmes song. That would be great! And a good option for those who want to do a sort of speaking style of singing.

My staple is Sunday Morning Coming Down by Johnny Cash. I love singing that song at karaoke.

I like to sing, but I would probably only do it now if someone invited me or there was money involved. The fact that most of the people need "liquid courage" kinda turns me off.

That was when we were living in the San Francisco Bay Area, lots of nightlife, we're now more into the nature scene. I'm sure you have plenty of entertainment in Vancouver too! Damn I miss the awesome Chinese restaurants up there, gotta renew my passport!

I used to growing up every Saturday night, but now I doubt I'd have the courage. I really have to be in the mood. We did have a few songs that we ALWAYS sung at the local restaraunt where my friends and I sung. My best girlfriend's grandfather and I sang "My ding-a-ling" every single Saturday! Haha. It never got old.
