I know my mom does play like the pick 3 occasionally and I don't think she has ever won. I will pick up a scratch off every once in a while, but the most I have won on those is $5.

We have a group of us at work who regularly contribute to... I guess I should call it a lottery fund. Some of us contribute more some less but always the same amount. Whenever we win big enough we have a distribution equal to our individual contribution share. The organizer of our group keeps track of who's contributed and who's not as well he buy's the tickets (usually about $275 worth), photocopies and distributes the copies.
Some in our group even contribute more than $20 each play. Personally I'd prefer that each of us contributed only a dollar and so have an equal share.
The biggest win that we had, my share was $20 but I only contributed $1 out of $279 so the winning ticket must have been between five and six thousand.
