It depends on what it's made of. There are some macaroni salads I like more than some potato salads and vice versa.

Macaroni salad if it has lots of diced veggies and a vinaigrette dressing (not mayo), potato salad if it doesn't include boiled eggs -ew.

Potato salad is too dry for me most the time. Macaroni salad has more texture and not so mushy

Potato, but, I don't like the kinds where the potatoes are all smashed up and slathered in mayo. I prefer more solid chunks of potato and more herbs in a lighter mayo dressing.
