Do you read in the bathroom?

Contributor: liilii080 liilii080
This is an ongoing debate between my partner and I. He has stacks of material in the bathroom but I am not in there long enough to get through anything and prefer to do my reading before bed. Just curious of what the EF breakdown is and also, if you have any book recommendations, leave them for me in the comments!

Not all the time, but if I'm going to be in there for a bit. *Cough, cough* I only keep one book in there though. I do the vast majority of my reading outside of the bathroom though.

I'm pretty much the same as redvinylkitty. I've got more than 1 book in there tho, but they're not "real books." There's a bathroom reader, and a couple small books that looked funny.

Yep. I have a basket of books and magazines for anyone else that wants to read also.

I don't at all at home. But at work, there's a basket of various womens magazines we all bring in in our ladies' room so if I need a little break from my computer, I may take a 4 or 5 minute bathroom break and see what Martha Stewart suggests I put on my next holiday table

We have books and magazines in almost every room in our house. Including the bathroom. My Man keeps his Playboys and Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex in a drawer in the vanity, where you can reach it from the....commode. If our kids look at this stuff, none of it is anything we wouldn't talk about. I know they've all looked at the Playboys, if they read Nina, it's only good education, from where we see it.

The bathroom also has a book rack with Spiritual Midwivery a book on Gardening, Keith Richard's new biography and several other things. The books rack has rotation, depending on how long something has been in there.

I have a book with me all the time. Anything from books of facts, to erotica, Stephen King, to David Sedaris (my new favorite author) to whatever I have on my KOBO, to a Martha Stewart or the occasional Cosmo I pick up, to a Playboy I started reading in the bathroom. I am never without reading material.

I'm a man, so that's where I get the majority of reading done.

Prefer to do my reading outside of the bathroom, but the hubby on the other hand has a stack of magazines for bathroom reading. Frustrating because every month or so I have to have him diminish some of the computer magazines he loves to read.

I hear that. Every time I clean I have to ask him what's ok to pitch and what goes back in the stack! And Jumboshrimpz- he also like to read e-mail on the blackberry in there. Maybe I'm slacking on multitasking here

I do not keep my books or magazines in the bathroom, as we have a very small bathroom- only room enough for the vanity, toilet, tub and a garbage can. Whatever I happen to be reading at the time, I will take with me to the bathroom, even if I don't think I will be in there very long. The only problem with this is I tend to overextend my bathroom time just because I want to finish a chapter. I usually am working on three books at any given time... sometimes I will have one that I deem for the bathroom only, one for bed only and then another for any other time throughout the day.

I don't know why it is, but I've always been able to focus better in there, so I read in there a lot.

I figure, if I'm stuck in there, might as well entertain myself.

I have books all over the house, and one in each bathroom. Lately, those (in the bathroom) are the only ones I have any time to read, even if it's just a few pages at a time.

My mom used to always say when I was little that if you spend too much time sitting on the toilet especially reading you would get hemorrhoids. Granted she could have been lying and at 6 I had no idea what that was, but it sort of stuck with me. So no reading in the bathroom for me.

I must throw out a hundred sports mags every time I clean one of our two bathrooms. He has them everywhere. I think we get one a day. SportsIllustrated, ESPN, Sports.....something else, specific "Specials" about baseball or football or basketball or.....women in bathing suits. I don't throw the bathing suit ones away, but everything else gets pitched, as do my magazines when they are more than a few months old.

It depends. I don't keep any books in there, but sometimes I'll take a book or magazine in. And I do like to read in the bath.

I tend to play with my ipod while I'm in the bathroom.

Me too. I always take whatever I am currently reading into the bathroom and end up staying in there longer than I intended so I can finish the chapter.

I'm currently reading Stuart Woods. I like detective books and mysteries.
