Do you read the news?

Contributor: Kkay Kkay
Do you keep up to date on what's going on in the world? Or do you prefer to change the channel, figuring the important things will trickle down?

I avoid it as much as possible, outside of what is occasionally posted in the Sexis magazine. There's too much horror going on in the world.

I only read it if it's on my homepage, and catches my eye.

I have my paper delivered daily, I'll glance the headlines and read whatever interests me, especially about local happenings. If we're not watching any shows on TV, we'll tune in to the 11 p.m. news, I like to know what's going on out there.
I prefer to be an informative person!

I watch the Daily Show/Colbert Report for headline type stories and if anything catches my attention, I look it up on BBC news.

I read the paper on Sundays to get metro Detroit stories for the LARP I run.

I really enjoy what's going on in the world, but I always feel depressed when I have to watch or listen to tv/radio news. They talk so slowly, and rarely talk about events that I'm very interested in, and they always give the impression that the end of the world is coming... and most newspaper articles today have far too little detail to explain any situation in-depth.

So I read news sources like marginalrevolution.com , the blogs of the presidents of a few of the Federal Reserve Banks, sometimes parts of The Atlantic and The Economist... I always know the important world events because of these sources, but I also get some insight from people who are smarter than me, and usually some behavioral economic background discussion, so it keeps me interested, and keeps me from feeling like the world is falling apart.

I watch the local news mostly. They cover the major national and international stories in addition to what's going on in my area.

On rare occasions I partake of the news. Unless I know something's going on. Then I'll pay attention to updates.

I stay very UP with the news, but from TV and RADIO. I do read news magazines and ONCE IN A WHILE, the newspaper, but by the time you read anything in a paper it is "old news", so I am a TV news addict. I cannot understand how, with everything going on in the USA and the world, some folks can stay so UNINFORMED. It is scary that these same folks get to vote. When I watch the "person on the street" questions by Jay Leno, and realized how poorly informed a LOT of people are, it makes me cringe. Those who know, lead. Those who fail to understand are led. I, for one, have no desire to be a cow with a ring in it's nose, led around blindly by anyone.

Urine trickles down, not "important information".

I don't read the news, or watch the news, or watch television in general.

I perfer to read it on the internet. This gives me the oppurtunity for me to seek out what I want to know about. It's a lot cheaper too! Newspaper prices keep going up, the thickness, quality and print size of the newspaper keeps getting smaller. This also is a great way to get the news on tv as well. You just click what you want to watch.

I try to read the news everyday. I check the internet and the local paper. I also watch our local news channel everyday. I love to know what is going on around me.

I'm not a fan of reading the news. I just pick up on the headlines and go from there.

I don't really care about the news. It's all about the ratings most of the time.
