Do you speak another language?

Contributor: Breas Breas
Just curious how many people here at EF speak another language other than English. I don't mean just a few words, but fluent in another language. I am trying to learn Italian.. well, actually, I haven't cracked the books for awhile, but I want to get back into it. I think it is so exotic to be able to speak another language. If you don't know any other languages, is there one you are interested in learning?

Thanks to the Air Force, I have been fluent in both Russian and Viet-Namese at different times. I also picked up a bit of German, Japanese and Thai.

You learn a lot of Japanese from watching too much anime

You lean how to sound crazy in a lot of languages just by watching YouTube

I'm not entirely fluent in those languages, but I'd say mostly fluent. I could easily get by if I lived in the country.

I have to be fluent in my 2nd language for my job. (I do interpreting and translating.) I'd love to pick up another language, when I was younger I was fluent in German, but I lost it, but I'd love to learn it again, or maybe Italian, or something else. I just love language.

My French is getting bad from neglect, but I have a number of Congolese friends so I have someone to talk to. I'd like to get more Spanish down (I can understand mostly, but I don't know enough to compose my own sentences), and German as well, if I could just find the time!

English is my second language, Polish is first. I've tried to learn other European languages but public school system isn't conductive to that.

I speak 50/50 English and Chinese at home with my husband. Learned French in high school, but forgot most of it. I'd love to learn Japanese and Korean, so I won't miss out any goodies on menus, because some Japanese and Korean restaurants only lists their specialties in their native language.

There's a handful of languages that I'd love to learn, but I just don't have the patience for it (or the money).

I'd love to learn Spanish. It would open up so many more opportunities for me! Plus, I'd stop getting funny looks when people hear my last name and I tell them I'm Chicana but I only speak English LOL.

I know the basics of a few languages which, with practice, would be easily picked up again: French, German, Spanish, Russian, Danish, Welsh, Greek, Ancient Egyptian, Scots Gaelic and Afrikaans.
