I refuse. The body doesn't absorb nor process vitamins in pill form as well as it does from natural food sources. It's a waste of money and time in my opinion. Besides, I've seen my mother take them every day for the last thirty years and she still complains that she feels like shit, so I don't buy into it at all.

I take a multivitamin, D3, B complex, and Kelp (for the iodine). I try to remember to take them everyday, but sometimes I forget. Aside from my multivitamin, mine are taken at a doctor's approval to meet vitamin or chemical deficiencies I have naturally.
The big thing with vitamins in pill form that a lot of people do not know, is to be sure you are getting the right mixture of them and/or eating the right foods so that your body can digest them properly. Some vitamins cannot be processed right by your body without the presence of other vitamins and minerals. They can also cause a lot of problems if you take too high of a dose for your body and diet.

What brand of Acidophilus and probiotics do you take? Is it effective?

NONE - I see them as a waste of time as well as money. I don't function or feel any better when taking vitamins, so I don't see the point.

I take nothing more than the occasional probiotic. I know this works, little else does, and I think random supplementation with vitamins can be dangerous.

I don't buy the "foods don't have enough vitamins in them anymore" stuff. I eat healthy food, and I think that is enough.

I used to buy "food based" vitamins for my youngest, who doesn't have a great diet (kids with Aspergers are often picky eaters) but I realized all I was doing was creating very expensive pee.

I really wanted cranberry capsules to work, I get a lot of UTIs. But, they didn't do a damn thing and gave me a stomach ache as well. Keeping a huge bottle of antibiotics to use when I start to feel a UTI coming on works to kill the UTI before I start to bleed, the cranberry capsules only resulted in my continuing to get UTIs and ending up in the ER.

So, aside from probiotics, I don't use vitamins.

Multivitamins have become VERY controversial in the medical field now. Many studies seem to show that MOST people don't need them, and that those who do, may face INCREASED risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke? These are far from large, comprehensive studies, but certainly worth looking into before blindly taking that super potency tablet or handful of "healthy" pills.

You might want to look up the latest research on this, and speak to your doctor. You may be doing your body more harm then good. Scary as it may seem. One physician out there said recently that "high dose multivitamins are doing more harm to people then smoking and NO ONE is calling the warning out".

Something to think about, even if only marginally true.

Thank you. You just reminded me to take my vitamins.
...Poor neglected bottle of chewables. They're good, though. Swiss Herbal chewable daily multivitamins.
While I said "1-3", that's because it is how many I would take if I took them like I meant to. I often forget altogether.

Wow I never knew vitamins were so controverial. I haven't been sick since I started taking vitamins, not even a cold and it's been a couple of years. I either have an awesome placebo effect going on, or the vitamins/probiotics help. I'm not sure which it is though, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as I'm not getting sick.
