Do you turn the water off while shampooing/conditionin g your hair or soaping your body?

Contributor: Ash1141 Ash1141
I read on the back of a shampoo bottle that everyone should turn the water off while soaping up their body and hair. Does anyone do this to save water? I could probably do this during the summer but in the winter, I'd get too cold with the water off.

No I don't do this. I use one of the showerheads that uses less water though so I figure that is enough.

I don't. I'm also horrible and stay in the shower longer than I need to so I can enjoy the nice hot water.

I'm with ya. I can't tell you how many times I sit in the bottom of the tub and just let the water rush over me. It's really comforting and warms my cold feet. I think the longest shower I've ever taken was 30 minutes, the shortest being around ten minutes. I can't stand to be wet and cold.

If I lived in the tropics maybe I'd try this... but a hot shower is one of those luxuries that you'll have to pry from my cold dead hands. I will happily not water a lawn to save much more water *and* keep my toes warm.

Step out of the water's path, yes, turn it off, no. It'd take too long to get it to the perfect temperature again!

Man, Eden formatting really hates that "c" and "o" being right next to each other when there's an "m" right behind it, doesn't it?

I totally do this also. Sometimes I just sit under neath the water in lala land not paying any attention to how much water I am wasting. I love to just let the water run all over my body. Plus not to mention I have a three year old and an 8month old that are always with me. So the shower is the only peace I get sometimes, so I take advantage of it. I will stay in there 30 or more minutes a day sometimes twice a day.

Aw. My mom used to try to pull that and I would go lay on the bathmat and wait until she'd get out. Hahaha. Co-dependency much? Yep, that's me!

I definitely don't do this, I'd get way too cold. I have horrible circulation, especially in the winter so yea, I waste precious water.

I love my long hot showers. It's a lot of help to my fibro. I don't ever turn off my hot water.

I turn it off when I soap up, because I leave it (soap) on for 2 minutes. (I use head and shoulders as body wash to treat my kp)

No, not in the shower. However, I normally wash my hair after my shower (my hair is really long, and for health reasons it's dangerous for me to stay in a hot shower too long) and I do turn the water off while shampooing/conditionin g when I'm just washing my hair. I also try to remember to turn the water off when brushing my teeth.

It's a water saving thing...I wouldn't do it. It takes too long to get the water temperature just right.

My guy thinks I'm weird because I am the first girl he's ever met who does this, and only 1 of my friends does this too...I don't actually wash my hair while I am in the shower or bath. I wash it separately.

I'll wash it in the sink because I hate having my hair wet when I get out of the bath or shower, so I do them at different times.

THAT being said, I do turn off the water because I don't get cold, and the sink I use is pretty consistent with the temperature.

HELL NO!
I enjoy the water too much and it's a pain having to adjust the temp just right again.
There's no way I'm getting that strict with water.

Lol - um no. I let it run. I also let my truck idle for extended periods and use plastic store bags... all things in the socialist republic of California that would get you strung up.

I let that water run! Love every minute of it too! Guess I'm spoiled. We really should conserve water, but I'm gonna keep it while I can!
