It's a big deal in parts of the USA with large Irish heritage. Not such a big deal otherwise.

I don't really get the observations of the day, but I don't want to get pinched for not wearing green. But I don't have any green clothing I'd like to wear. I tried mixing some colors to make a greenish eyeshadow, but it didn't really show up well...
