I couldn't put it better myself, P'Gell. I have always had to defend my opinion on the "clean your plate" issue with some know-it-all friends, I never realized how many people ... more
Yep. The way I look at it, the human body is NOT a garbage dump or a land fill. People, including children, should eat ONLY until they are full, any "extra" food is not going to benefit them, it will only lead to tummy aches, resentment of parents, obesity, diabetes and that food would have done less harm in the dump or the compost.

Or an eating disorder---like in my case. I cannot be made to feel like I "have" to eat a meal. If that emotion creeps in, I start dry-heaving and can't finish it.

I forgot to add that. I don't blame you, I used to barf as a kid if anyone tried to make me eat. I had abdominal migraines and our pediatrician had to have my grandparents (whom we lived with when I was small) and my parents into a conference to make them understand that children should never be made to eat, if they don't want to.

Anyone else in the same boat?
Never really had desert, and if we did it was usually something I didnt want when I was a kid.

Dessert is yummy but a rarity, which makes it exciting when I got to eat one. But I don't feel like I need one every meal.

I have dessert about half the time. It depends on what my mood is and what's in the house.

I prefer a pussy for desert - but a beer will do as a second choice!

I rarely have dessert after dinner but if I do it's usually a cookie or some sorbet in those individual size containers..so its nothing too fancy.

Nah, I don't have that habit. What I do sometimes when I'm super over worked though is eat junk food or sweets in place of a meal. It's horrible. But c'est la vie. Heavy work times are heavy in my parts!

I don't need dessert when I'm eating at home (and most of the time dessert is a piece of fruit or a sweet drink) but if I'm eating out at a nice sit-down place, then yes I'd want to go all out and eat dessert.
