Has anyone ever sold a gift card on ebay? Have you ever bought one off ebay?

I used to sell tons of gift cards on Ebay. I would actually get either the FULL value of the card OR darn near. So heres my thinking:
REALLY!?!? lol. I Mean, is there a reason or method to this madness? lol. Why on earth would you spend the same amount as the card and not really know who you are dealing with or if that is the actual amount on the card etc etc, when you could just go to the store and get one that you KNOW is new with moolah on it lol. Is this strange to anyone else or is it just me? Granted, I am NOT complaining, because hey-it was good money! haha!

I actually have sold gift cards before, but never for the amount they are for. I sold a $100 gift card for a steakhouse for $70 once, but I really am not sure why anyone would pay the same amount the card is for, because like you said, it would make more sense to go get it yourself from the store.

You may also have seen this, but some people on there even sell EXPIRED gift cards and coupons and people buy them...lol

I have noticed that sometimes people get a bit carried away when it is the last minute or when there is a bit of a bidding war. Love when this happens for my vintage cycles or cycle parts!!!

No. I've never received a gift card haha

Honestly I haven't even heard of this until now! I can understand selling a gift card to some place you don't care about and having it set at a lower price than what it's worth. But other than that it sounds a little fishy. I sure wouldn't buy one from ebay.

I understand why people sometimes sell them — the cards are either gifts to stores they don't shop at, or store credits they would prefer to convert to cash — but I really don't understand the people who bid it up to near full value. Once something passes the 50% mark, I'm out of there unless it's a high value card, in which case I might go up to 60-70%.
