Ever forgotten how old you are?

Contributor: El-Jaro El-Jaro
It happens to me more than I'd like to admit. Someone asks "How old are you?" and I draw a blank. I have to actually stop and think about it.

Does this ever happen to you? How often do you remember the wrong age?

Yep! I'm usually a year behind my actual age, which works because I just turned 30 and I'd rather say I'm 29 anyway.

Yes. I have to tell my mother regularly how old she is too. She refuses to believe her baby (the youngest sister) is now 21, she thinks we are still highschool age LOL. She just doesn't want to be over 40.

The older I get, the more I have to think about it. I count down the years and come up with a scary number!!!

I've never forgotten. Maybe when I get older I will, but at this point each year is a big deal to me.

As you get older, you still THINK of yourself as in your 20's or so. Wait till you are in your 50's or 60's...you will see what I mean. You don't have a clue who that old person in the mirror is, staring at you. You cannot figure out where that youngster who is SUPPOSED to be there went and WHEN????

There have been a couple of times where I've forgotten whether I was 24 or 25. It doesn't happen too often though.

I remember when I was a kid I asked a relative how old he was and it took him a couple of minutes to answer me. I thought it was strange that he didn't know right away like I did (I think I was 10 or 11 at the time). He said after 18 the birthdays and numbers don't seem as important so it's easier to forget your age sometimes.

I'm starting to understand now, but it seemed really strange to me at the time.

Maybe if I were older and more forgetful. Or if it was just my birthday (like it was on the 18th) and even then, not really. So no, I always remember. I'm 22.

Here's how things work for me every year (and with the year too). I get used to saying one age/year. That number changes. I say the old number for a while while trying to remember to say the new number. Rinse, repeat.

Sometimes I'm waaay off, but a lot of the time I round. It's bad, my brain still thinks it's 17! And then I'm like "Wait, no, shit. I'm 18."
And then everyone's all "Suuure you are..."

I need to be better about that! X3

I forget often. About the time I 'feel' like I'm one age, I'm one year older.

I think I'm purposely forgetting my actual age, starting a few years ago, hate it when my husband reminds me my exact age!

I have this happen from time to time. More so in the middle of the year, half way after and before my birthday. It's extremely embarrassing when meeting new people and they ask how old I am, then I say the wrong age, usually 1 year behind. lol

I usually mess up by aging myself. Like, my bday is in a few weeks, so I'll start saying "Oh, yeah, I'm 37." When no, I'm 36.

Or am I?
