What's your favorite flower to receive? And if you only give flowers, what's your favorite flower to give someone?

I like any flowers as long as they're still alive.

Same, once they're cut, they just make me sad.

I like silk roses and orchids, though.

I'm with Potstickers and AndroAngel in preferring my plants alive. I'd go weak in the knees over kitchen herbs before flowers...

That said, lilac season is very short and bringing a bunch in to the table to enjoy the fragrance can make me happy. Same for peonies. Those are really the only two---highly fragrant, and the blossoms are short-lived enough that they usually even last longer in a vase than they would outdoors.

Roses (well, at least the bush I've got) I prefer to leave on the bush so I can collect the hips later.

As far as giving, I usually give Thai basil. Cooking nerd, sigh. The flowers are totally delicious.

If I give flowers it's normally a plant. Plants continue when all flowers have faded. If it must be a cut flower then usually I'll give anything yellow unless there's meaning for the intended receiving party.

For receiving flowers I love getting orchids because they have a special meaning to me but also anything with lots of color.

Cut flowers, oriental lilies. But, I prefer getting potted plants. Something tough to kill would be best because I don't have a green thumb at all.

I don't really like to receive flowers. I like to garden, and grow flowers, but I don't cut them off the plants. If someone is going to spend money on me, I'd rather get something useful.

I'm not a fan of getting flowers, although I think roses are pretty. I do love getting plants though, especially potted herbs that I can use for cooking! Basil and rosemary are my favorites.

Lavender Roses. Every year on my birthday my step-dad gives me a lavender rose. All though they are harder to find now if he can't find on he gets me either pink or red. For my sixteenth birthday he gave me 16 beautiful red roses. I told my mom since they are doing a big blowout for my 30th birthday at their place in Florida next year I told her I wanted my step-dad to get me 30 lavender roses.
