Flu shot anyone?

I have never gotten the shot. As a nurse I have worked in nursing homes and hospitals when people came in sick. I truely believe that if you need germs to make your immune system stronger. It like when your kids start school they get sick alot the first couple of years then it starts to get less right. Well there immune system is stronger. Our grandparents said a little dirt never hurt anyone. I believe that.

I'd knock on wood really fast if I were you! I haven't had one either and I've been lucky enough to keep the flu away, but I also expect I'll get it sometime in the future and really regret not getting one. I just hate needles and since the shot is optional, I figure I'll take my chances and not get something injected into me if not absolutely necessary.

I HATE FLU SHOTS! When I get the shot, I always get flu-like symptoms anyways, and I rarely get the flu on top of that. So to me, it feels like the shot gives me imitation flu, then does nothing. I had Swine flu back when that was going around, THEN my parents forced me to get the shot anyways, and I was laid up in bed AGAIN!!! Nope. Never again. Unless it's swine flu again-- imitation flu isn't as bad as that....

I never did until I had kids in school. Since I'm the primary caretaker of the children, I can NOT go down with people sick around me that need help and care. It happened once. It was insane.

I've gotten them the last two years due to being a nursing student. It was explained to me like this: even though I have a strong enough immune system to fight the flu, I can still be a carrier for it without showing symptoms. I can then transmit it to my sick patients in the hospital who have a compromised immune system. I never thought of getting a shot in order to protect the health of others like that. It changed my view completely.
