For those who work "third shift'

Contributor: Entropy Entropy
I get off of work at 5 in the morning. I like those hours and tend to stay on that schedule (get up at 3 pm to be at work by 5pm) on the days that I'm off. If you work third shift (get off of work around 0400-0800), what are your hours like on your days off?

I work 10 PM until 7 AM. Usually, I don't go to bed until around 12 PM, though if I have something going on that day, I will go to bed earlier or later. On holidays, I try to go to bed as soon as I get home. Lately I have been pulling a lot of 24 hours straight without sleep, due to needing to go to the doctor.

I don't work third shift, but I work 5 pm to 1 am. I completely adjust my schedule on my days off.

When I worked 11 PM to 7 AM, I would get off and go eat breakfast at the diner, drive thirty minutes back to my apartment and then take care of all my banking and other errands. I'd get home around 10 AM and then go to sleep until 6 or 7 PM and then get up and get ready to go to work. I worked weekends, too so family obligations and social stuff was often put to the side unless it was really important.

When I worked 5 PM to 1 AM, I would go home and stay up until about four or five in the morning and then sleep until 3 PM and then take care of all of my errands. I had no social life whatsoever.

I work 11pm-8am, I usually stick to that schedule on off days because switching between the day/night can be really hard but if I have something to do I can usually wake up earlier, but I usually sleep til at least 4pm on off days and stay up until 8am on off days. On days I work I don't go to bed until noon and I sleep until 9pm. But I don't usually sleep all the way through, I get woken up a lot.

When I worked 3rd shift I got off between 6am-7am, I'd go home and normally get to sleep between 9-10am, getting up around 3-4pm to handle normal people things. I'd have to sleep before work as well to get the rest of my sleep, but I never got my full 8 hours of sleep.

I'm so thankful to be back on days and even better a morning shift, 7-3 means I have the afternoon and evening to do things, but going to bed early sucks sometimes.
