What is with guys thinking that they can walk on water?

Contributor: LusciousLollypop LusciousLollypop
Guys.
We love them.
We hate them.
We want to kiss them.
We want to kill them.

Is it a guy complex to just want to ALWAYS want to correct what women do?

Example : I'm doing the dishes. (He never does the dishes) and I'm just listening to music to pass the time. He comes up behind me and tells me a "better" way to do the dishes that is "faster and more efficient".

(not just ONE incident, with basically everything)

Men and Women are TWO different species. Men have their way of doing things. Women have their way of doing things. It just so happens.. I have my own way of doing things, as many women out there do as well.

Why is it that men think they can always.. do it better?

Start voting and explaining! women AND men are welcome. xoxo

Actually, it's my female SO who is more likely to do what you're describing. My male SO never tells me a different way of doing things. Seriously, I can't think of one time he's done the thing you're describing and we've lived together 8 years.

But my female SO has very strong opinions about how he and I do things. I.E. run the disposal longer, put the dishes away this way, load the washer this way, hang the towel this way, etc. etc.

Awe, my hubby does this all the time. It's annoying. I say "you know the better way is not disturbing me and allowing me to finish."

And I wear the pants, but I let him think he does once in a while!

Sometimes people genuinely want to discuss ways to do a particular job "better". (I know those with OCD-type behavior are especially guilty of this.) Sometimes they're just trying to help (the person or themselves)...

However, I think in most cases, people just can't help being annoying. "They know best." They're "older, wiser" (), or simply think you're dumb. I guess it kinda depends on the person and situation.

My husband and I do it to each other quite frequently. I hate the way he does things in the kitchen - he hates the way I do things in the kitchen. We're just...know-it-alls, I guess? Hahaha

This doesn't happen particularly frequently because we're both kind of lazy and any sort of serious criticism leads to a fine then do it yourself kind of argument so we've learned to just live with it.

I wear the pants... but... my guy never really tells me how to do things. He prefers to sit back and let me do it my way.

Meh.

I have my way of doing things. I mostly haven't let any of my bfs help because they just create more work for me.

I think humans just tend to do this, not just men.

My Man does get into shit he shouldn't. I was complaining about my job once, it is very different than his job. I work in health care, and one of the things health care professionals have to do, for their own sanity and the safety of their patients is to not get too emotionally involved in their patients and to maintain a professional distance, as well as very strong boundaries.

Something happened with a patient (it all worked out for the best) and My Man was almost yelling at me, saying, "You do whatever the client wants! The client comes first." and all this shit. I stayed calm and had to explain to him about Professional Boundaries. If we didn't maintain them, we'd let all our patients get into our heads and we wouldn't be any good to anyone after a while.

He did apologies, as his job with his clients is much different. Basically, they kiss the clients' asses. You are kind and professional in health care, but you have to keep control and maintain your boundaries for your own sanity.

He usually has some "better" way of doing things... but then I do, too. I don't think it's just a Man Thing.
