He actually listens when I tell him the meds I'm on aren't working, and he works with me to get me on the right ones. It has taken forever, but if I ever feel like I need to change them, he's all about helping me find the right ones. A lot of them aren't good about that though. They think they know best because they are doctors, but they don't know how you're feeling with the meds you're on unless they LISTEN to you.

Yep, as a young teenager, and she told me she could tell I was depressed because I was wearing blue nail polish. Because that was a glaring indicator of the mental health of a teenager in the 90s...
I did find a counselor in my mid 20s that I was starting to have some progress with, but that was right around the time I lost my job (and therefore my health insurance). Never bothered to go back after I got insurance again. I've thought about it since, but just haven't followed through.

I'm sorry to hear you went through that. As someone who's had as many bad experiences with psychiatrists and psychologists (if not more), I feel for you.
