No, and I would not want to work for someone who crossed such boundaries.

No, and I have to agree with Stormy. Makes me wonder if she had an ulterior motive in dropping by where you live.

Exactly. My home is my home and unless I specifically invite you there, you are not welcome. That's for family, friends, bosses, co-workers, and any one else who feels they can just drop by unannounced.

I've never had that happen.
While I agree that it's definitely crossing boundaries, I'd still do the interview...maybe it just means she REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to hire you!

That sounds really unethical unless you are applying for a job that involves caring for others in your home? I would have been completely pissed off. I wouldn't likely even answer the door. People should have respect and NEVER come over unannounced.

What the hell? Why couldn't this person send an official letter if they couldn't get you on the phone. That's psycho!

I agree with Stormy. That would make me uncomfortable and not want to work for that person.

I used to have a friend who would shout at me from the parking lot when she showed up unannounced. It used to drive me absolutely insane! I would pretend I wasn't home.

I agree with Stormy. This sounds very unprofessional to me and I would rethink working for such a boss.

I had applied at a nicer restaurant here in town and waited by my phone for days, just hoping for THE call--nothing. One night about 11pm, there was a knock on my door and thinking it was a friend who was always fighting with her hubby--I got up and opened it. The owner of the place I had interviewed at was on my porch!! Drunk as hell, and wanting to hire me, give me a raise, promote me to a different position-before I even started-if I would get naked right there on the porch and....yeah. I went back in the house, looked up his phone number and asked his wife to come get him before I called the cops.

AHAHA. Priceless.

I'm with everyone else on this. This is just plain creepy.

I would be seriously freaked out if someone showed up on my door without prior knowledge of a home visit to offer me a job. I would question that. Now my partner is in law enforcement and there was one department that he was applying with that had a home interview but you were given advanced notice of it and it was only after several other rounds of testing and interviews and background checks.

That is creepy. I would have expected a letter, or hey in this day in age, an EMAIL? Most job interviews I have had have been set up via phone or email, never my post or home invasion. Make sure you tell someone before you go to the interview. Let them know the place, time, who is interviewing you, and the contact info for the interviewer. Safety first.
