Have you seen these numbers of sexual assault in our military?

My son recently joined the USAF. While in basic training many drill instructors were disciplined or dismissed for harassment.

I think it's a complex issue. There is a somewhat unnatural conversion of youth and hormones and power in the military. It's been a failure of leadership that the assaults continue. According to my son they now have to go through serious and regular training on this issue.

Hopefully this new generation will move past the 'old guard' and take on a the responsibility to respect one another.

One last comment - we have to be careful not to condemn men without due process. It's pretty easy to get drunk - or change your mind about 'consensual' behavior - or to have a desire to get even. Due process must be retained.
