Headaches and Migraines

Do you have an odd cure for headaches or migraines that works really well for you?
I like to use peppermint oil, just on a tissue or something. I hold the tissue under my nose and breathe deeply. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't.

Unfortunately, no. The only cure that works for me is a dark room and sleep.

I try to take pills as little as possible, so like you, I use peppermint oil. Just have to take a long bath, massage myself, and then go to bed. I used to get migraines all the time, something recently must have changed.

Ginger tends to help, too, because your stomach/digestion can have an impact on getting headaches.

Aromas make mine worse. Last night I had a headache that I promise bruised my brain. I am still feeling it right now. So far even meds do not help, so I just lat there and suffer until I can sleep.

I'll have to try peppermint oil sometime... I don't like always having to take medication, but it does help. Ibuprofen more so than acetaminophen (as I seem to need 1000mg of the latter, while 400mg of the former does better).

I do like the dark room bit though. It always helps.

A cold compress on my forehead and/or the back of my neck. Plus a cool, dark, quiet room with only fresh air as the scent. If that doesn't work (if it's horrible) and/or I can't lay down, I use caffeine plus ibuprofen and tylenol.

Unholy amounts of caffeine. They used to sell caffeine mints that had something like half a cup of coffee worth of caffeine in them. I used to pop 5-7 of them and an advil. It usually worked.

A dark room, Excedrin, caffeine, and not moving my head are the only things that seem to work for me.

I wish! I've tried everything and my only solution when they're extreme (like today) is pain killers and BC powder. I hate headaches with a burning passion. Peppermint oil didn't ever work for me. I have recenly been drinking this "happy high herb" drink with herbs like Yerba Mate and Acai and Schisandra extracts and it has been helping quite a bit with headaches. Not sure if it's one particular ingredient or all of them combined. I got them pretty cheap though. They taste pretty bad, but mixed with tea or cofee, no problem!

Oh! I almost forgot... Years ago, I used to drink those TAB energy drinks for women and they were great for my lighter headaches! I don't know what it was about those because no other energy drink works for me, but TAB did well. I cannot ever find those anymore though.

Sometimes I'll give-in and lay down in a dark room with my eyes covered... But most of the time, I'm too stubborn to let the headache/migraine do that to me, so I try to push through it. Those are usually the days that I end up having to take an Imitrex because the pain gets to be so bad.

Not sure if we can post links but just goggle this "Elasto-Gel Cranial Cap" thing helps me and not much does.

peppermint oil works, but I also use vicks rub and rub it on my head and neck. Excedrine with caffeine works or drinking green tea for me-I don't drink soda.

When I worked at the health food store (alternative medicine) we sold feverfew for those that had continual migraines. It's not something to use only when you have a headache, but as a preventative measure so you don't get them as often.

Also, the nutritionist would have those that suffered to write down when they got them and see if it correlated with anything. Menstral cycle, something they ate, low blood sugar, certain scent, etc.

Headaches...my favorite topic. I've had a headache 24x7 since summer, 2009...caused by severe nerve damage in my cervical spine. A 4 level ACDF didn't fix it, and right now, the only thing keeping me sane and semi-functional are lots of cancer/chemo-grade pain meds...but I have more pain than just the headache, obviously.

I wish there was one, because I have a bad one today. I am having a hard time reading the screen today, even had to ask someone questions about their review

I wish something natural worked, but I have to pop a couple of advil.

Classical music or something with a very predictable beat (even techno sometimes) seems to help me. That combined with darkness and ibuprofen.
