Home Made Bread? Anyone use bread machines anymore?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
When we got married, everyone gave you a "fry baby" fryer or bread machine as a wedding gift. I think we ended up with about seven of each! Today we wouldn't touch fried food, and we only used a bread maker once...about thirty years ago.

Does anyone in this day and age even have or use a home bread machine? I don't see them in the stores much at all.

Just wondering.

I actually own and use a bread machine It is a great machine that goes from proofing to baking smoothly. We love it.

Honestly the only bread I've made has been 'frienship bread', which is a yeast mix. Other than the dessert breads made with that I see no point in making my own bread when the time it takes adds up to more than the price of whatever I feel like eating.

My mom and aunt both have bread makers and have made bread a few times. My girlfriend makes gluten free bread homemade, but doesn't use a bread maker to do it.

C always made bread in his - he got it at a thrift store.

I never had one. I just make either batter breads or Irish breads (soda as a leavening agent).

I don't have a bread machine but I do make homemade bread. I don't have room in my kitchen for another appliance; hand kneading and mixing works fine for me.

Sounds like a real hassle. I'd rather just go buy it.

we have one, but I have never liked the way the bread turns out when cooked in it. We use it all the time for mixing and proofing a bread dough. Then we bake it in the oven.

I own a bread maker, but I don't think I've used it in about a year.

I bake all my bread in the oven. We had a bread maker but it always made weights instead of loafs.

I've never tried a bread maker. When I make bread, I do all the work by hand and bake it in the oven. It's so easy, I can't really imagine needing to buy a bread machine to do the work for me.

My mom had a break maker but it bounced it's way off the counter and broke. Now she just makes break by hand.
