Have you ever had a horrible boss?

I'm watching Horrible Bosses right now, and it got me thinking about the bad ones I've had in the past...ones who were drunk at work, ones who yelled at me for no reason, ones who just refused to do their jobs...

If I didnt have kids and there was more jobs available in my lil stupid"city" then I would of told him to shove his job along time ago!!

The worst boss I ever had was a family member. Well, he's a former family member now. But anyway...

He and I butted heads like you wouldn't believe. It was sheer joy for me the day I canceled his credit cards, took his laptop and his office keys and told him where the unemployment office was. Sheer.Joy.

I've had at least a couple of horrible ones. One, who I thankfully do not have to deal with anymore, treats me terribly because the girl he is sleeping with at work does not like me. At one point I was the one being called a horrible person who does not deserve to have a job and a bunch of other stuff for no reason that I could see. The girl he is sleeping with is proud of the fact that she's got him blackmailed about the whole thing. He does whatever she wants. Thankfully he is being transferred soon.

I had one when I was 18 that allowed clients to make inappropriate sexual comments about me, actually, he encouraged it. I was the only female in a 'man's' business. It was disgusting, and most of the men were old enough to be my grandfather. I quit after two weeks.

I have had some really terrible managers in nursing. I had one when I was a traveler and she told me I was a premium employee and I would work when she told me to!

I don't know why, but nurse managers are some of the worse. They middle manage and few do it well.

Nope, but I've had some weird customers ask me things when I worked at a hardware store. Between the alien defense guy and the woman trying to crack a safe, I'm glad that was a short term job

Absolutely horrible...I don't think so. But there was one that cut my working hours waaaaay back when I became unexpectedly pregnant with my first child. When I went to see human resources, they told me that what happened wasn't nice, but they could do that. I was too young to realize they couldn't.

A coworker of mine once told me that one of the former assistant managers barred her from leaving the office until she agreed to sign a write-up. Why she never reported it to corporate (or for that matter, called the goddamn police on his ass) is beyond me, though I suspect part of it might have been because he was the darling of the district manager, always kissing her ass and doing whatever it took to make himself look good. Would have been hard to convince her and possibly those above her that he was anything but stellar.

Aside from this incident, he was often discourteous to the staff and very obviously more interested in moving up the ladder than helping out with the team. Not to mention he was a complete idiot - he picked up some snakes he found outside so he could ask me if they were ours. I emphasize: he picked up snakes in his bare hands WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT KIND THEY WERE. That violates common sense with a rusty spoon! He's thankfully at another store now, so I don't have to worry about him. If he ever comes back, I'm quitting, and I'll state very clearly that it's because I don't trust him.

Yuck! My mom is a nurse and had some pretty bad ones too...she is probably qualified to be a head/charge nurse but does not want to do it. She does not want the headache. She says nursing has changed so much sine she started in the 70s. And she is an awesome nurse! She is like Nurse Jackie without the drugs and all. I give anyone credit who is willing to do that job.

Oh no! What an ass! I had a manager accuse me of stealing a $10 hand cream one time, which I had not stolen, but it accidentally ended up in my bag. They accused me without a loss prevention person there, and I wasn't thinking straight and should have had one called...my BF used to do loss prevention and he was so pissed! He said they could have set me up and all. So many bosses get on power trips and the like that they become so inhuman. I was so glad to leave that job. They treated all their employees like expendable crap, unless you sold tons of merch...

YES!! Omg yes! Im currently in The process of building the courage to quit. Have had my letter of resignation with me for a week. My boss is sadistic and unethical. What he makes us do for such a low wage is insane in itself. Yes he is horrible. Cusses us out and calls us all stupid or idiots. I have to run while i have the chance. Completely takes advantage of young people. 100+ degrees out and he expects me to do maintenence outside. Gotta be kidding me, Not in my job description.
