Online dating or meeting someone at a bar is something that I wouldn't personally do, but I think if you're comfortable with it then more power to you, lol.

I will say that I'm actually rather surprised at the amount of people who have met playing games or doing other gaming related things. That's so cool

I met my b/f at a gym that was in an nearby town that neither of us lived in. I totally ignored him for awhile but that so changed.
I never got into online dating or reading personals but some people have found success so who knows?

i used to work as a body piercer, my husband got his ear pierced as an excuse to talk to me, slipped me his number written on my business card. I almost didn't call him lol, we'll be married 3 years on the 27th.

I have had several strictly online, long-distance relationships, as well as some that started or ended online. My very first relationship was online and we finally met on our one-year anniversary, but only lasted for another 6 months after that (we were young). I've also had a 3-year relationship with a High School acquaintance of my older brother, it started online until he moved to be with me. I've met and dated people through chatrooms, WoW, online friends, etc.

My current relationship we met in person at work first, but didn't share a real conversation until we talked via AIM, our screennames provided by a mutual friend. The mutual friend was interested in me and coerced my (now) boyfriend to find out if I liked him. Long story short, my boyfriend decided that he liked me and was a better suitor than said friend... and the rest is history. The three of us are still good friends.

Online relationships can be great things, but it does require a lot more trust, patience and communication than the traditional relationship. Going to sleep alone at night, not being able to come home/go home to that person... It can all be very taxing on your heart. But it can end up being completely worth it.

I met my husband at work.

Our boss was a bit of a nightmare and I was thinking about just not coming back the next day (I was very young and irresponsible) and he looked up at me all puppy-eyed and said "Please don't leave me alone with him"

I was actually in high school and he was living in the area. One day, over summer, an old friend had asked me if I wanted to hangout. I wasn’t doing anything that day, so I didn't mind. He had came to pick me up at a pool hall where I was with some family for a bit. He was using his friends jeep and going to his friends house; where he, my friend, was staying.

We walked into the apartment and no one looked home. Then noticed he was in the back yard area playing with his dog. He was wearing flip flops, sweats, and a 'beater' talking on the phone. I knew I was looking good. I had spent my whole morning on my hair, curling it. Was wearing a pair of my favorite jeans with my favorite black & red silky checkered top. Then I look like a silly trying to hit a tennis ball with a golf club, I had missed a few time.. can tell I have never tried this before! lol. I think he though it was cute though.

Later than day the three of us went to play pool. Granted I wasn’t very good at that either! Josh(my friend) hand tried to show me a few tips but they weren’t working. When Scott(the eye candy) tried to help I was all about it. He got behind me and was teaching me how to shoot pool, and I must say I took my time on learning!

That’s the day we met and it just took off from there! two years into it we did brake up over the summer for a bit.. Then he moved and changed his number, so I could never get a hold of him. But one day at the end of that summer her called me, since I had never changed my number. The after talking he would drive and hour or so to see or pick me up for the weekend. Then he took me on a trip that well never forget. We’ve been together ever since. at total of 5 years, I also don’t include the 'break up' time and still consider him 'my' high school sweetheart!

We're high school sweethearts, too. For a year or two, he was just a friend of a friend, that crazy, silly guy who would come sit on (not at, on!) our table at lunch and crack jokes and pull crazy stunts to make us laugh. He was always dating one crazy, trashy, bitchy nut or another at that point, so I never really considered dating him. (he had self esteem issues, he went after the girls who treated him like shit because he thought that was all he deserved) My junior year (his sophomore; he's a year younger than me) the latest in a string of girls had cheated, left, and broken his heart. A mutual friend decided that being comforted by a cute, buxom girl would cheer him up, and called me over. I cheered him up a bit, hugged him, then had to run to class. I didn't see him again for months, but he says that's when he fell for me.

Fast forward a few months to fall of senior year's marching band season. He starts coming to all the games (there was always a group that came just to hang out with us band geeks, hahah), hanging out with us after games, even helping move those heavy instruments. We became friends, I developed a crush. 2 of our mutual friends (a couple), talked to both of us, and realized that we were, in a nutshell, being idiots about each other. They mentioned to both of us that there might be some interest in the opposite party, and drag us out to lunch together. (which almost didn't happen; he says he came within 30 seconds of chickening out and asking out another emotionally abusive chick) At lunch, the friends brought up topic after topic to try to get one of us to ask the other out... they brought up the homecoming dance, movies that were coming out soon, romantic stories... they pulled out all the stops.

I finally got tired of waiting for him to say something, and asked him. His family has NEVER let him live it down!

The rest? Is history. We've been together for almost 5 years. He comes on family trips with us. His family is asking when we're going to start making babies (gag). We're talking about marriage now. So for all the ridiculousness, it's been worth it.

After years of dating mentally and emotionally abusive women that cheated on him all the time, my fiance is finally getting used to the idea that that is not how a person is supposed to be treated. He enjoys being able to feel happy again, which is a good thing, lol.

Congrats on the fantastic relationship

I haven't met anyone anywhere romantically speaking, but I met my best friend in a Resident Evil yaoi community on livejournal. (I think I just admitted to a lot of things with that statement... ) Five months later, I flew for the first time ever to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. It was the first time we ever met and it was wonderful. I have tentative plans to move out where she lives

After we had been together many years (we met and started dating when I was still in High School) we realized we had FIRST met in a park near our houses, when I was a kid (probably 10 or 11) and he was a teenaged punk. (Not "punk rock" it was well before that. Just a punk-ass kid.) A friend and myself had taken the Fort, which was accessed by a high ladder in the park, these teenaged boys wanted the Fort to smoke pot in. They started throwing sticks at us, and yelling at us to get out of the fort, ascending the ladder, threatening us, etc.

WE HELD THE FORT! We threw sticks back at them, spit at them, threatened to call our Mommies, and screamed as loud as we could and drove the Huns away!

We didn't realize we had first met this way until yeas later, after we were married and I was talking about a park I used to hang out in, and started talking about the "bad boys" who tried to get my friend and I out of the Fort. He remembered HE was one of the Bad Boys. It was the same summer, the same Fort, same part, same Stick Fight. I HATED him then, he was a teenaged punk. Things change, huh?
