I'll hand wash if it's only a few items but if there are a lot of dishes or it's a whole bunch of big things like pots or pans I'll use the dishwasher.

Hand wash. Our dishwasher is old and nasty. I took it apart and cleaned it after we moved in; you wouldn't believe some of the things I pulled out of it

It actually depends.

Most of the time, things are rinsed and put into the dishwasher, but we have quite a few items that are not dishwasher safe, so they get hand washed.

Or, sometimes, if we only have a few items that won't fit into the dishwasher, they get hand washed and put in the drying rack.

I said other because we do 1/2 and 1/2. Depends on if it is just a few dishes or a party or big or small dishes too.

With just the two of us, we usually just use disposable cups, plates and toss it all away (at least we use paper...a renewable resource). Less waste then a bunch of water and soap too. If it is a big load, like we have guests, then we use the dishwasher. 99% of our dishes, however, are by hand, since it is only a couple knives and forks or a coffee cup, or saucepan.

Proud to finally have a dishwasher. I used disposable dishes and flatware for many years because I refused to hand wash that many things. I still had to hand wash pots and pans, and it royally sucked.
