How many folks here on EF have run a MARATHON before?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Mr. and Mrs. Bignuf have traveled to the SUNNY SOUTH, and are going to be running in the SAVANNAH, GEORGIA "ROCK AND ROLL" Marathon (our first!!!) TOMORROW!!!! Seems that 23,000 other people have the same general idea. They are shutting down FREEWAYS here to accomidate the race!!!

How many people on EF have run a marathon (or half marathon) before? Have you ever done the "marathon route WALK?".

What was YOUR experience in this kind of run???

Wish us luck (we will need it...although the weather is supposed to be nice and cool).

I have never run a marathon before, but I can see why some people would be interested in it. It's cool, just not for me.

marathons are WONDERFUL.
my favorite part is the start out, everyone finding their own rhythm. It's a fantastic experience. Just pace yourself, and have a blast! marathons get easier the more you do them. It's mostly mental preparation, and THEN physical ability.

If you ever see me running, it will be because the zombie apocalypse has happened. Actually, even then I might just give in.

I'm not the best runner, but one day I would definitely like to train for a marathon.

Nine miles is the longest race I've run. Nine miles with an 1800 foot change in elevation. It felt like a marathon.

I've done the La Leche League Walk for Breastfeeding. It was fun, very low key, no winners or losers and back then the money went to a good cause.

My kids claim they have never seen me run. I don't know if that's true. But, I don't really run a lot. Certainly not for a marathon. I'd probably have a stroke.

Marathons are definitely not my thing. I can barely walk for a long time at a time.

I can now say we HAVE run in a Marathon. Had great weather. COOL, and pretty out. LOTS of people....LOTS (23,000). Had fun, however. Sure didn't set record time, but we both ran together and DID finish. Not feeling bad at all either. Have a little bit of knee soreness tonight, but not much else bad!!!

I haven't run a marathon before, and I don't think I ever will. The longest race I've done was 10 miles and I pretty much wanted to die by the end. My friend signed me up for her team and I could have sworn that she had hold me it was a 10k (6.2 miles) instead of a 10 mile race. Obviously I was not pleased when I showed up to the race and found out it was NOT a 10k. I was definitely not prepared for it either. I did run somewhat regularly at the time but never more than 4 miles or so. I thought 10k was going to be a big stretch for me, so almost doubling that seemed impossible to me. I definitely couldn't run the whole way but I finished and was pretty proud of that.

No marathon but a twenty mile road march with full pack and a rifle.

Dont think I ever will do a marathon. I am not a huge fan of running at all, its my least favorite form of exercise.
Id almost rather get eaten by the lion!
